Let's Read The Quran...

Peace!

We need your participation!

Campaign name: Let’s Read The Quran
ame: Let’s Read The Quran

Logo/icon: Your browser may not support display of this image.

On January 1st 2009, four friends Syed, Walski, Marina and Anas got together at Coffee-Bean Bangsar Village and decided to launch a campaign to encourage people to read and understand the Quran better.

This campaign is not only for Muslims, but also for our brothers and sisters who are Christians, Buddhists Hindus, Sikhs and those who believes in a God-Head but not so gung-ho about being in any brand of religion, too – come join us and share your ideas! You can join this campaign even if you are an atheist!

The goal of this campaign is to encourage people to read the Quran in the language they understand most and find in it areas of common values in our day to day living.

What is the Campaign all about?

Read the Quran in the language that you are familiar with.

When will the campaign start and end?

January 15th to February 14th (Happy Valentine’s Day!)

Where?

Participating blogs in the blogospheres.

Why?

So more people know what the Quran says and what the Quran does not say and to match it to what is really said in our daily lives.

Who?

Everyone who wants to – the more the merrier! If you have a Blog, Facebook, etc carry the logo/icon.

How?

  • To join the campaign, place the accompanying logo/icon at your blog.
  • Write or share short articles based on the Quranic text.
  • Share what you find in the Quran with family and friends.
  • Ask questions about the Quranic message
  • Read the Quran – eg click here http://www.islamicity.com/QuranSearch , www.altafsir.com

Peace and Thanks,

Marina Mahathir

Walski, and,

Anas Zubedy

I believe muslims need to read the Bible to understand the other side too :-)

Apart from your three links to the Quran, there is another, a very interesting and unique online Quran site. You can reach the site here: http://quranflash.com/en/quranflash.html

The Quran is not merely for reading, you have to understand and LIVE by it.

Good luck.

If U ask me to listen to ur Quran. Why don't u say, "We should share the knowledge from other religion". This is the only question I going to ask U. So pls do not ask me to understand about ur Quran. How about ask urself to understand about others. And I personally do not think ur Quran are the only perfect thing in this universe.

Salam...

anon@9:07AM,

you are a belligerent person. you do not have to read "my" Quran. Nor even try to. Thank you.

Folks,

As Muslims, our intention is just to introduce the Quran to everyone, Muslims as well as anyone who is interested. This is NOT an attempt at saying 'we are holier than thou'. No that is not our intentin at all. Also it is quite impossible to be holier than thou.

We feel that while there is so much focus and attention on Islam in our country (and also outside the country) and also that since the attention is often very negative, why not look at the contents of the Quran for ourselves
to see what the book really says?

If Islam is going to occupy so much airtime and also affect our lives, why not go to the source and see what the Quran says?

That is all. Again there is no holier than thou here. Regards.

Syed Akbar Ali.

Nuraina, you've read the Bible! Of you go to the pusat pemulihan akidah. OK,just joking. Anyway, it's silly of AnakMelaka to say he'll bring the bahasa Indonesia Bible. He clearly knows that you and all those who've initiated and joined the campaign blog in English and would probably understand the English language bible better than the Indonesian version. Sigh.

Naz,

that's the thinking. people are always guilty of making assumptions.

we're not promoting that non-Muslims read the Quran.
we're promoting an understanding of the Quran.

if non-muslims choose to read the Quran, that's good.
if they don't, hey that's ok.

on this, I ditto Syed Akbar's clarification.

thank you for visiting...

Dear all,
I quite agree with what Samsudin said - we need someone proficient and knowledgeable to explain the finer points in the Quran, It is quite sad that many malays who claim to be muslims has never read the Quran, less so trying to understand the message within. We were all from the same source - the Torah, the Bible and the Quran - we are Ahlul Bait' (People of the Book). Lets create a better understanding towards each other thru this campaign. I salute the organisers. Kudos to you.
