Khir Toyo Resigns As State BN and Umno Chief

With immediate effect. And Muhammad Muhd Taib takes over....

Khir, former Selangor Menteri Besar is taking full responsibility for the BN's defeat in Selangor in the March 8 elections -- though I know the blame was not his alone. But he was the State BN chief......
Khir also apologised for the defeat.

Syabas, Khir!

Khir made the announcement at a Press conference last night.

APOLOGY accepted, Khir. I won't rub it in anymore. As I have said, I am not laying the blame wholly on you.

Mat Tyson's appointment?
Khir said Umno president and PM Abdullah Ahmad Badawi had agreed in principle (after discussion with Khir) to appoint Muhammad as the new State BN and Umno chief.

Ok ok... you may think -- rightly or wrongly that anyone is better than Khir! But Mat Tyson?
Besides, isn't he already a Minister?

I suppose we are desperate. And didn't someone say that Pak Lah and Khairy are impressed by that magical touch of his with the party grassroots?

His "common touch" skills are good...I can attest to that, having seen him in action. But that was years ago! I suppose he has never lost it.

So never mind his reputation in other departments, but as far as this leadership is concerned -- Muhammad Muhd Taib is DE MAN for Selangor Umno. Maybe he is...
Talk about resurrection of a political career!

Well....good luck, Selangor Umno!

Is it not correct for the Deputy to take over?

Are you having some reservation?

Nuraina, you're being too kind on Khir Toyo. He went into hiding licking his wounds after promising a no-opposition state. Only to re-appear and show what a sore loser he was. Instead of redeeming himself and talking about being a good opposition FOR THE PEOPLE, he wanted to "register all those who were above 62". Basically what he was saying was he was going to make sure the new govt fails to keep their promises.
Now reality has set in. Maybe he was hoping Pak Lah would have given him a place in the cabinet. That's why he was probably still sticking around. When that hope too vanished, where else to go? Balik kampung la. Not sure if his old kampung friends would recognize him though, with his plastic face on.

I'm glad that Datuk Khir Toyo is leaving. After the disastrous defeat of Selangor Barisan, that seems to be the only graceful thing for him to do. He never endeared himself to me and I find many of his comments & policies disturbing. I finally lost all respect for him when he claimed that his "fair complexion" came from eating tempe goreng. Even at the TTDI Pasar, the tempe sellers seemed insulted. If you could lie about tempe, you could lie about just anything...

Just read The Star, seems Rafidah was furious on her being dropped before calming down at the Press conference later. Guess the AP scandal finally caught up with her. However, women representation in the Cabinet does not reflect the demography of the country nor the contribution of women to Barisan. Something needs to be done here. I'm not sure if Aza will fight for women, I may be wrong but I get the feeling that she seems embarrassed to be fighting for women's rights. Aren't there any professional corporate women leaders who can be brought to the fore?

Pak Lah mentioned that he wants MPs to stay out of corruption. He should also say that they should stay out of businesses too - that's how they get into corruption in the first place.

It's more to who is there to assign

Firstly, good move bro. But the worst is yet to come. Make sure those shredded documents are safely kept, BPR might want to scrutinise for further investigation. Remember, you are among the top ranking of the corrupted persons.Tak ramai melayu macam ni bro.

Another circus stunt made by Pak Lah, hiring Mat 'old bandit' Taisen into the scene again. The new foreign currency minister. The whole world is laughing at us especially people in down under.

Pak Lah is still sleeping. Syyyyhhh..!

dunno what's happening anymore. seems the whole country is going through a major overhaul...sometimes it is not the engine that is causing the problem. the driver is equally important. in our case, we have an incompetent driver. the rest of the people are not too relevant for now. change the driver and then we will definitely see some changes. otherwise, who comes & who goes makes no major difference

Semuanya OK!

malay women in malaysia,

i think by the time i wrote this posting, i had already spewed all the expletives and whatever that needed to be said.

so, yes...i do sound like i am "pretty kind" to khir.

sympathy to Umno? yes...lots of it because Umno is in crisis and the people for whom the party stands, rejected it in the elections.

mistofar,

of course, of course, the deputy should take over.

but why was it agreed "in principle"?
