From The Star
KLANG, Tues: Former Port Klang assemblyman Zakaria Md Deros died after suffering a heart attack early this morning.
The controversial 62-year-old politician was dropped from the Selangor Barisan Nasional line-up for the general election.
He was replaced by his daughter-in-law Roselinda Abdul Jamil as the candidate for the seat, which she did not win.
Also a former Klang municipal councillor, Zakaria hogged headlines last year when he had a run-in with the law for not submitting building plans for a mansion that was described as a virtual “istana” (palace) by his critics.
He was also found to have not paid the assessment for another property for 12 years, while his family was caught operating an illegal satay restaurant on government reserve land.
Due to these controversies, Zakaria gave in to mounting pressure and withdrew from being a municipal councillor.
His mansion has 21 bathrooms and 16 bedrooms, including 11 that occupied by each of his children, as well as a VIP room, three living rooms, a dining hall and a prayer room.
The house also has a swimming pool, several gazebos, an orchard, a two-hole golf lawn, an office, a storeroom, two rooms for maids as well as a wet kitchen and a dry kitchen.
He is expected to be buried in Malacca.

Nuraina,
AlFatihah.
Kebaikan yang arwah lakukan akan diberi ganjaran jua.
Al-Fatiha.
That's how short this world is. Indeed, it is short. You can build castles and be the PM for 50 years, but the soil is the end.
Al Fatihah.. Semoga roh nya berada di samping orang-orang yang beriman.
al fatihah...
That lucky bugger, I was just gonna invest in a tallest tree as suggested by Zorro to hang him upside down. Are you sure it wasn't harakiri as suggested by TDM
Al fatihah.....!
How sad that he passed away in such a political situation...and demise of his future family dreams...
May God bless him....
good riddance!
al fatihah.
kesian.
semoga rohnya di cucuri rahmat.
stress?pressure?SUK?khir toyo?
rumah kene rampas?
sedang cuba fikir yg elok2.
Al-Fatihah!
I received one of those mass emailing about this news several hours ago and dismissed it as a joke of rather dubious taste. Astagha, rupa2nya betul. :C
It is normal to feel sad when one learns of the death of another person. Strangely for me, in the case of Zakaria Md Deros, my first reaction was ' Good riddance to bad rubbish '. This goes to show the kind of feelings Zakaria invoked in me after coming to know who he was through the media about the kind of irresponsible behaviour of a so-called leader who should have been setting fine examples to the public. I wonder how many reacted the same way I did on learning about his death. If I am the only one than I do apologise to his family but somehow I know there are many who reacted in the same way that I did.
My goodness, how melodramatic this has turned out !!!
I pray that this man's family will come out of this unfortunate turn of events humbler but stronger to face life's vagaries and uncertainities.
God is watching us.

TOYOLBUSTER: I think it was one of the commentators in my posting that talked about a tree...I might have hinted on a Ho HUP-like crane like what they use in Iran to hang a 15 year old girl.
A bit shock at first, then, as a muslim, I hope that he has done some good deeds (amal jariah) to help him in the after life stage and also anak2 yang soleh to pray for him..
Getreal, kau bukan sorang saja, ramai lagi yg rasa cam gitu bro...
Please, this person already dead. Why must we humiliate him again. Lets the god judge him for his past. We should mirror ourself. May god bless him and us. We still do not know where we stand later...
god bless him. poor getreal.
Sudah mampuskah? kena balut kain kapan jugakan? harta dunia bukan boleh dibawa mati.
karma, karma, karma
Al-fatihah nonetheless.... but I share the feeling of "getreal"... yes, as they say in Malay, "kubur masing2" and he's answerable to his Maker. But since he was in position with the amanah from the rakyat, he has to be accountable. In fact, correct me if I'm wrong, lagi hutang duit can cause our ruh to "hang" in the other realm, inikan pulak "hutang to rakyat"?... hope the rakyat will forgive him for his "hutang" to them... the "perks" of being in that position comes with the accountability... masing2 jawablah. Semoga selamat dunia akhirat, amin.
let's not speak ill of the dead, though i understand the sentiments. al-fatihah all the same to arwah.
1st casualty of the fall out?
Too bad. No sympathy from me. Getreal, you are not alone on your reaction.
Biar Allah sahaja yang menilai arwah. Bukan tugas kita untuk mencaci orang yang sudah tiada.
Death is a very convenient exit for him. I pray that GOD have no mercy on a man like him... corrupted, arrogant and many many other evil deeds.
K119 and anon:
thanks for commenting but i'm sorry i cannot publish that rumour surrounding Arwah's death.
You should have just publish a statement regarding his death, full stop and not dwell or made any referrence to the case. You have spoken ill of the dead.
My advice to all, like the one did by 1 or 2 others, lets not condemn him but just recite the Fatihah.
At least to moslems, as it is asked of us, if you have nothing good to say about him, then dont say anything.
warrior2:
"You have spoken ill of the dead".
who has?
me?
and you wanted me to publish that statement?
God desires non to perish but come to repentance. God judges the dead and the living. God have mercy on us all.
The Cause of Death - The huge losses of umno and his daughter-in-law gave him a heart attack, obviously.
The Cause of Death - The huge losses of umno and his daughter-in-law gave him a heart attack, obviously.
- Correct, Correct, Correct!
From Dennis (malaysiana).
To Err Is Human, To Forgive Is Divine
The Temuan Orang Asli politician who passed away today has finally been laid to rest in his ancestral home of Alor Gajah in Melaka.
His aboriginal ancestors hail from both Selangor (Klang) and Melaka (Alor Gajah).
I was once pissed with him for abusing my money and wasting it on an expensive mansion, and for using undemocratic methods of intimidating the socialist Opposition in the state of Selangor (now the bloody socialists have taken over Selangor).
I was really mad with him for insulting the Sultan of Selangor, who is the cousin of my Sultan, the Sultan of Perak.
He was blamed by some people in his party, the conservatives, which I voted for in the last election, for the party's loss of Selangor to the socialists.
And those who blamed him uttered very racist statements against him, calling him a less-than-human ape unworthy of being a politician and leader.
This apparently caused him to suffer a fatal heart attack in the wee hours of the morning.
It is sad that when you are down and out in politics, some of your selfish comrades make you a scapegoat and insult your grandparents like f***ing hell.
People should be more forgiving and not be quick to condemn especially in politics when team work is most important.
The very fact that this aborigine leader relinquished his candidacy in the election meant that he took reasonable steps to help his party win, despite its eventual loss in Selangor.
Despite the fact that he insulted me and my intelligence as a BN supporter and a taxpayer, I am saddened by his death and have long forgiven him for his sins. After all, we are all sinners in one way or another.
I readily pay tribute to him as an Orang Asli leader who fought to make sure the Orang Asli of Selangor and Melaka were not marginalised by modernity and given sufficient compensation for the appropriation of their lands by the Chief Executive Officers of Selangor and Melaka (in Melaka every indigenous person has Orang Asli blood in one way or another).
He helped make sure that the Orang Asli of Selangor had their own museum in Selayang (near the famous Batu Caves Hindu cave temple) and were given a chance to perform in all Tourism Malaysia cultural festivals in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.
Nobody is completely a devil in this life and the Almighty is All Forgiving, Merciful.
Dennis (malaysiana) & Warrior2, may I suggest that you advise the relatives of arwah to really do an honest "audit" of the wealth spent on the mansion to ensure that it was gained from halal means... and if it was not so, then sell it off and use the money for amal jariah... that would be best for ruh arwah in alam baqa'; if it was found to be gained from honest business transactions, etc... then maintain it... but they have to be honest and brave about this, if they truly love arwah... wallahu'alam.
dharan sea - his relatives are not here. Nobody claimed to be his relative and wrote something. My comment, as always, was targetted to what were written or to those who wrote something.
Nuraina A samad - yes. I still maintain that you have spoken ill of the dead by highlithing the controversies surrounding him (maseh menceritakan hal keburukan beliau). Although you have picked the story from The Star, you didnt have to print everything.
Like I said in my earlier comment, all you need to do was just wrote that he has died. If you still want to use the star, JUST USE THE FIRST PARAGRAPH!
Yes I expected you to publish the statement although it was a critism.
warrior2:
whatever.
Al-fatihah - let Allah be the final judge of all his good and bad deeds.
