It Doesn't Matter If The PM Doesn't Say Sorry.....

"God is great ...my prayers for a moral victory have been answered" -- Tun Salleh Abas said.

Tun Salleh Abas who was sacked as Lord President in 1988 said to us (*this blogger and Ahirudin Attan) when asked how he'd feel if there was no apology forthcoming from the Prime Minister at tonight's dinner jointly hosted by the government and the Malaysian Bar Council.

The former Lord President is not expecting any apology from the PM tonight.

"If Pak Lah doesn't say sorry it doesn't matter to me. Let the public judge and God deal with them.

"I've waited for 20 years...God wants to give me only that, and they cannot open their hearts to say sorry, what can I do. Perhaps God has not opened their hearts.

"Why should I feel sad about this....I have been sad enough," said Tun Salleh, a deeply religious man.

He will be at the dinner, accompanied by his wife, Toh Puan Azimah and their children.

*Ahirudin and this blogger were with Tun Salleh during a session for the writing of his book.

Sis Ena
On 6 September 1988, I wrote this to a friend in London using Holiday Inn Johor Bharu stationery with printed warning - Hotel is not the sender:

His unflinching desire to get the LORD PRESIDENT removed from the office was fulfilled. He may appear as the winner this time but I strongly belief* the historian/future generation will recall this gross incident as "LORD PRESIDENT being victimised".

* He he I was so belia 20 years ago!

Now, let's move on and continue rebuilding the judiciary.

I really hope after this the police and the government could announce the investigations into other unsolved issues, such as this:

Malaysia to liaise with foreign cops on indelible ink probe

IPOH: Malaysia will liaise with foreign police on investigations into the illegal purchase of indelible ink from neighbouring countries.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday after chairing a meeting with the Perak police on election preparations at the headquarters here, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan said, "We have to be fair in our investigations. That is why we need to check with our foreign friends whether or not the ink was really being sold in their countries and if so, who is behind it."

Musa said investigations on the four businessmen, who were detained on Tuesday for allegedly purchasing the ink to create chaos on polling day, were still ongoing and the case had been classified as attempted cheating.

"We are focusing our investigations on two things, mainly. Firstly, we need to check on the truth behind the four reports filed against these people.

"Secondly, we need to find out the source of the ink and who brought it into the country," he said.

Musa added that the moment the four reports were filed with the police, the Election Commission had to be alerted on the issue.]

Whether Pak Lah apologised or not , Tun Salleh Abbas and his 5 brother Judges were never guilty except for upholding their integrity and honour . May God Bless all of them.
Amin

It's not that God has not opened their hearts but they have shut their hearts. Ultimately, they have shut justice out!

Let the public judge and God deal with them. Yes, I believe the Judge of all will deal with them, if not in this life, in after life!

I have to commend you on your fine journalism. My prayers as well as the prayers of the Rakyat has been answered. The former Lord President Tun Salleh Abbas and 5 Federal Court judges who had served well but were dismissed by the previous Government can now put that unfortunate experience to rest.God is just and has answered their prayers.Lets move forward and reclaim the good name of our Judicial System that had been tarnished by many scandals.

Moral Giants!

Tun Salleh and his brother justices' anguishes and pain can never be really felt and understood by any of us! They paid a heavy personal price to uphold a principle.

If it is any consolation, the rakyat has always hold the wronged justices in the highest regards. Through the 20 years this respect has never wavered.

The PM's action has restored them to the honoured places they deserved. They had endured the abuse for 20 long years and never first did they lose faith.

These are not only towering legal minds, they are also giants amongst men!

Now lets see if we can get ex umno legal adviser and a member of the party's disciplinary committee removed from being court of appeal president --- what separation of power, they are still running it, this is just window dressing

It is a belated good beginning. Do you think Abdullah Badawi would be shaking hand with Salleh Abbas if not for the dismall BN performance in the recent election? Obviously the rakyat has made a wise voting decision, pushing the government to reform. The event however failed to reflect the PM honesty in wanting judicial reform. If he is really honest about it, that would have have happened long before election!

Sir Thomas Moore would have said,

Pak Lah you can keep your money and I'll keep my dignity intact.

Malaysians, think for a moment:

Please imagine the typical White Master saying to his Balck Slaves,

"here's some money, go buy some food or something"....

A true and honest leader of people, must have the convictions of his beliefs.

Stand or fall from it.

Either you sincerely believe in the innocence of the person or otherwise, find him guilty.

Pak Lah is NOT sure, also as with many other matters, all he can do to mitigate his guilt conscience, is to offer MONEY.

The 6 Judges, if you have any sense of DIGNITY, tell Pak Lah to keep his money.

And Zaid Ibrahim, you have just lost one battle .... they will not apologize and Najib just told the public.

Saint Sir Thomas Moore you are a fine example of jurist , you stood against your own King just to maintain your beliefs of the Papal Supremacy. That's is your principles.

[I would not, like to quote the examples of the great Imams and Ulamas who stood their ground against cruel Sultans]

Rosemajib also says that it should not be construed as an apology and then agrrhmmptui, gave us a load of waffle (read as s..t!!)

With this kind of 4th class mentality, self-denial, mule-headed obstinacy, plain dishonesty and utterly out-of-tune arrogance, She wants to be our next PM?

KMB!!

Pak Zawi said...

The government (represented by the PM) fell short of doing the right thing by not formally apologizing to which his deputy concurred. Though it was not officially said, the action said it all, paying ex-gratia payment ia taken by the rakyat as an admission of guilt. We dont need it to be said anymore. The Rakyat had to beat them up via the GE12 before they can come to their senses.
Anwar's sacking saga will be the next to be unravelled.

To Zawi and people of his opinion, I ask - are these the values we want to impart o our children and youth venturing into politics and Government service?

The pathetic language of Govt double-speak and to never admit the truth?

My respect for AAB would have risen 100 fold if he had just plain apologised.

Everyone and his uncle knows Salleh Abbas and his 5 colleagues were removed illegally. Otw, why should Zaid Ibrahim & AAB even bother with this tame 'yes, but no' approach?

We should not be afraid to bring Mahathir to the dock to answer publicly for his Machiavellian conduct. And if UMNO/MCA/MIC have to be castiagted publicly for not opposing their wayward leader, that is a lesson they well deserve. A national catharsis and reconciliation will be beneficial to all.

Otherwise, we will end up like Zimbabwe. Mugabe (no wonder he has Firaun as his greatest supporter)refuses to announce the GE results. I'm sure he (the Black Hitler) will claim he has acted within the law.

But we are not interested in that; the Law is about justice and substance over form!!
