Hoping For Dr M and Pak Lah To Come Together...

and bury the hatchet.

Umno dputy and incoming president Najib Abdul Razak referred to (former party president) Dr Mahathir Mohamad and president (outgoing) Abdullah Ahmad Badawi as "negarawan".

He wants them to come together to discuss the problems and the future of the party.

While I reckon Najib is probably one person who can bring these two together, I think it will not be easy. Man, it's going to be a tough call.

But....I suppose, for the sake of the party....

Dr Mahathir's appearance (and presence) at the (final day) of the Umno general assembly received thunderous applause and a standing ovation.

He and his wife, Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali were getting to their seats while newly-elected deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin was at the rostrum, addressing the delegates.

Muhyiddin stopped to acknowledge the couple's presence and hoped that this meant that the former president was considering rejoining the party.

He also said that Dr Mahathir's presence showed that perhaps, he approved of the new party line-up.

Later, Najib and Abdullah (in their speeches) welcomed Dr Mahathir and Dr Siti Hasmah.

Najib believed that Dr Mahathir's presence showed that Umno remained in his heart and flowed in his blood.

"My hope is that these two negarawan, can together discuss the problems and the future of the party".

He got everyone warmed up, and laughing when he said that he imagined their first meeting would be awkward but with time he was confident that there would be that warmth and affinity between them.

"What is important is not one's personal feelings but the future of Umno and the nation," he said.

"Godwilling, if these two statesmen can come together, everyone else will close ranks."

*It is no secret that the relations between Dr Mahathir and Pak Lah have not been warm in the last few years after the latter aassumed the country's premiership.

At the end of the day Pak Lah is the winner. Surely he will forgive Dr M and MUhyideen but he will not forget what was done to him.
Deep in his heart and in his prayer he knows that GOD is almighty.
TQ Pak Lah for being what you are and semoga direstui dan dirahmati ALLAH hingga akhir hayat. PUTRA09.

It's good if Dr M and Pak Lah could be brought to a conference with the new President of the party. It would mean a lot for the party's unity and for the Malays in general.

But like you said, it's not going to be easy. And if Dr M does not wish to sit with Abdullah because of what Abdullah's people have done to the party and the BN in the last 5 years, let's not force the issue. I won't blame him.

I think the right thing to do it is for Abdullah to seek a meeting with his ex-boss and mintak ampun for allowing his dogs, especially Kalimullah Masheerul Hassan and his operatives, to wreak havoc on the party's unity.

Pak Lah owes an apology to Malaysians for the slide, and I don't mean losing the two-thirds or the five states, cos that's politics. As PM, he failed to deliver some of the most basic of promises that he made. Some has credited him for greater press freedom; I'd say these people are really hanging on to straws. The KPIs, unity in tatters, our international standing going down the gutter.

i m not sure bout this dr m pak lah coming together.

does it even matter that they get together. besides dr m pak lah is a dwarf and have no currency left after he's resigned to contribute anything.

i really don't know where he get's off giving the unsolicited forgiveness. he should be crawling on his knees and kiss dr m feet asking forgiveness.

dr m is the only reason that he be pm and how did he repay him? to jumstart his administration and create his own niche as pm, he scrapegoats dr m who just about done stabilizing the party and the country from the anwar fiasco and having a dip in popularity at the time. what ingrates..

does anyone expects someone of dr m stature to take shit from a bodoh sombong like pak lah lying down. n thank god for that.

It's rather sad and a little scarry. One guy was at his throat most of the time and he behaved elangantly.Next they forced this old mathatter to give and take and put on a show. All three clowns put on a show for the delegates to uproar.
Sandiwara at its best for the main hippocrites!Man! dont this people have honour at all?
Are we malays in a habit of screwing each other with hate and venom and behave all is well?
Hi!Rocky please dont ask Abdullah to minta maaf from that senile old man cause he drew first blood and why should he be humilated? If you have a battle with Kali and operatives you could slug it out in your domian and time.
Pak lah is already history so let him make peace with God.
Now! what are we going to do about TDM?Why must he be worshipped like God and that the malays cannot live without him?Is he the saviour of the malay civilisation?
