Guan Eng May Bar NST From His Functions

GEORGE TOWN: Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said he would consider barring the New Straits Times from covering his press conferences or functions in response to articles in the newspaper which he alleged were slanderous and false.

He said he was willing to accept criticisms but not statements with elements of slander and certain agenda intended to disparage him and the state government.

"In the last election, they also wrote nasty things about us but we took it. With or without NST, we have survived all this time.

"We urge the people of Penang, if they want to read the truth about Penang to boycott the NST," he said after visiting the Relau Community Park here yesterday.

Lim made the remarks when asked to comment on an article in the NST on Saturday entitled "What's your beef, Guan Eng?" which criticised him over his preferential treatment of the media.
The article was a follow-up to another piece a week earlier entitled "Guan Eng trait that's difficult to swallow" on the same issue. -- Bernama

I support this new Penang state Govt.

But honestly, you can't talk about supporting free speech, freedom of the Press, no censorship and democracy while in Opposition, and then the minute you come into power, start banning the NST, Star and the like.

Grow up Guan Eng! And if the heat in the kitchen is too much, get out! Politics is not for little papa's boys!!

After the 4th level boys reorg, NST seemed to be gunning for Penang more. NST should check their ownselves that blaming others.

Beef ? Or mutton? or Pork? Or ikan bilis?
The Chief Minister must know that NST is voicing from His Master, just like the old gramohone record, using the turn-table and needle! If I remember correctly, there is a dog! So, when the dog barks, it barks for the Master!
You just can't help it. A dog will alwys wag its tail when he sees the Master coming home! Throw hima bone; and he will be jumping for joy.

So, do not expect much from a dog. All dogs behave the same way. Look at any dog; ask any dog. It will bark; and sometimes it may want to bite human flesh.

So, out up a sign: " Beware of dogs! "

It is high time that not only Guan Eng, but Khalid Ibrahim, Azizan Abdul Razak and Nik Aziz (and also Nizar who is the legitimate MB of Perak) BAR not only NST, but Star, Utusan, Berita, RTM & TV3, in fact all the mainstream media who have either blacked out news on the Pakatan Rakyat (unless of course such news is negative and damaging).PR should also BOYCOTT THE MSM and make public bonfires of the pro-BN trash they have been churning out which makes us want to vomit!!!

MOST OF THE LOCAL NEWS COMPANIES AND TV STATIONS ARE PRO-NAJIB & PRO-UMNO. IT IS A FILTHY SHAME BECAUSE WHY CANT THEY BE LIKE CNN OR BBC?? ANYWAY, I HOPE ALL PAKATAN STATES WILL BOYCOTT ALL PRO-BN CHANNELS AND NEWS. PAKATAN STATES SHOULD ALSO COME UP WITH GOOD NEWS SERVICES TO COMPETE WITH THEM IN ORDER FOR THE PRO-BN STATIONS AND NEWSPAPERS TO LEARN A PAINFUL BITTER LESSON

my take on issues of ban and bar...

i never agree on bna/bar generally.

and i agree with donplaypuks. politicians like guan eng should take it all in his stride.

you don't like NST, Utusan, RTM.. don't read or watch them. You cannot be so intolerant. makes you worse than the people you criticise.

thank you...

Harakah, Suara Keadilan, The Rocket can say all the negative things without proof or facts but nobody calls for a ban.

CNN gives slanting news too. Will LGE also call for a ban?

Face it. When in public limelight, you are watched by your every move, no matter which side of the divide. It's all part and parcel when you accept the job.

Hey, wasn't it DAP that was championing democracy? Or was it a one sided democracy?

A GOOD MAN DOES NOTHING.

a good man does nothing, indeed he should sometimes.

the beef is not so much with nst being lop-sided as it is the fact that all msm are lop-sided against the pakatan rakyat.

your argument re rocket, harakah etc...those are party papers. how much are the circulations? against msm like the star, nst, utusan?

you wanna play fair? then lift all hindrances to party papers or allow the pakatan rakyat to publish their own national circulation papers.

then we fight on equal footing.
