Give Me Just A few Days....

Anwar Ibrahim wants his meeting with Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to take place before he goes ahead with the power transition.

He told a 2pm Press conference today that more than 31 Barisan MPs have agreed to cross over to Pakatan Rakyat but declined to reveal their names.

He said that he would give the list of the names to the PM when he meets him.

Read the rest of the Star online report HERE.

Meanwhile, De facto Law Minister Zaid Ibrahim is sticking to his guns -- quit the Cabinet.

Anwar, jangan memperdayakan rakyat lagi

Teringat kata Hj Hadi Awang, beliau pernah berkata, saya bukan ahli politik Mat Jenin dan saya, tak mahu berangan-angan macam Mat Jenin, baru nak panjat pokok kelapa dah berangan-angan.

even if he says he has 300 MPs, it's meaningless without names and verifications.

But we can sense where he's going with his usual preemptive statement pointing to AAB to respond to his request for negotiations.

To AAB, no names, no proof, no meeting. Why should he? Its better for AAB to spend his time sleeping.

So suddenly the ball is on AAB's court.

He is not the one to be blamed if his PR government fails to materialise.

clever....

but 25th sept date with the court is sure.

so there is more for anwar to blame. It's not his fault.

Knowing his lust to become PM, he would have barged to AAB's office yesterday, or last week or last month, even if he has half MP majority.
Why wait?

Kalau berani:

1.jangan halang MP lompat.

2.jangan guna ISA tahan MP.

Kalau ugut pun tak berkesan, ISAlah, apa lagi!

Sungguh mengecewakan!

Well Anwar you can take your time with whatever political gambit you may have. Just to remind you that your actual open dateline is next general election. I wish you all the best ... Wali Kota

In war, no general will reveal the date and place his attack will take place. There could be a dummy date and place to confuse the enemy so that the enemy will sleep well after that and that's when the general will strike. Only stupid general will reveal details abt his battle plan. If Pak Lah thinks that Anwar will not be successful simply becoz 16/9 is over, then it's good for Anwar. To Malaysians, be patient. It needs not be 16/9. Any other date will do so long as this inefficient regime is brought to the ground.

If indeed Anwar has the support of MPs and Cabinet Ministers as he claims, don't you think he would have marched to the PM's office with his supporters by now???

Why the need to see the PM if he has the support? What is Anwar waiting for? Smooth transition of power? What transition does he expect when he has not even made the defector's list public???

Just another wayang from Anwar.

If bloggers are taken into ISA then I'm pretty sure these MPs are going to be C4e!

Dear friends,
Some of us may feel disappointed, some even a little bit depressed, but, we should be patient.Perhaps, we should not take 916 literally.
916 symbolically is powerful as the momentum for change has not decreased. On the other hand it is increasing.Taking into considerations the numerous hurdles which PKR have to overcome, ranging from the monarchy to the civil service to the arm forces and the police, Anwar may need not days but months in trying to effect change even if he does have the numbers as he has claimed on many occassions. The danger is that the longer the delay the more likely it is for our economy to suffer.I can only hope that the damage is not irrepairable.

Know the Difference: Transition, not Handover.
For the moment, the UMNO leadership crisis appears to have been averted with the announcement of the cabinet portfolio swap between Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and his Deputy Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak. As recently as last week, analysts and commentators were anticipating Najib to make a move on the Presidency before the year’s end. And why would they not? After UMNO Vice President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin rekindled the debate about Abdullah’s position, Najib appeared to position himself for an assault on the post when he remarked that the divisions should decide for themselves when the transition should occur – essentially informing that he was more than ready to receive nominations for the post of Party President.

But with the portfolio swap, Najib may not see a need to gun for the Presidency – and by implication Premiership of the country – so soon. Notwithstanding the fact that a transition of power is, as Abdullah quipped, a process and not something carried out overnight, Abdullah must be credited for such a bold move. Skeptics have characterised it as a calculated political decision to neutralise any potential threat from Najib. Political considerations there definitely were, but by paving the way for Najib to take helm of the Ministry of Finance, Abdullah has also demonstrated magnanimity and sincerity to groom his successor for the top job in 2010.

Being Prime Minister with little experience in managing the country’s economy will likely prove a mammoth task for anyone. And as it turns out, Najib is no ordinary figure with an ordinary past. With ample ammunition for the Opposition to take aim at his credibility – the SAS (Sukoi, Altantunya, Submarine) scandals spring to mind as illustrations – a Najib administration could use a head-start in spearheading economic recovery at a time when global financial uncertainty is affecting countries in this region, too.. It is further also to Najib’s convenience that the Budget for the year 2009 has just been announced with much of the implementation left for him to oversee. As such, Najib does not have the baggage of others’ inefficiency to contend with – a prevalent concern whenever an economic plan is carried out.

As things, at least for the time being, cool down with regards to any contest for the Presidency of UMNO, it would be interesting to see Tun Dr.. Mahathir’s next move. Commanding a yet formidable following, his end-game for quite a while now is to unseat Abdullah as Prime Minister. His peculiar friendships with Tengku Razaleigh, Muhyiddin and Najib are telling – those individuals are all nothing more than instruments to his ultimate goal: the downfall of Abdullah.

Ultimately, Abdullah’s supporters will hope that the PM’s move will be repaid with loyalty by Najib. Even to many who may not be Abdullah’s biggest fans are wary of the damage that an open contest will cause the party. Even they would gladly take two more years of Abdullah over the prospect of an internal split that will likely occur should we witness a repeat of the embarrassment suffered by the late Tun Ghafar Baba at the hands of a ruthless Machiavellian by the name of Anwar Ibrahim.
