A New Journey For (Former) MCA Stalwart Chua Jui Meng

Former Health minister Chua Jui Meng today quit MCA and announced that he is joining the opposition -- Parti Keadilan Rakyat.

Chua said he was taking a "new journey, a journey of change".

"I'm convinced that today I'm standing on the right side of history, especially at this defining moment of history, I'm joining this party," he told a crowd of some 800.

He was with PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim at the PKR's 'The Truth Behind the Scandals: Perak, PKFZ and the BN Conspiracy' forum in Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa.

Chua said he decided to join PKR because the country's two-coalition political system was being undermined by Umno.

The death of Teoh Beng Hock, the political aide of Selangor executive councillor Ean Yong Hian Wah, was the “tipping point” in his decision to defect to the opposition, he added.

On Thursday, Teoh's body was found sprawled on the roof of an adjacent building after he had undergone questioning late into the night at the offices of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

Wasn't he a Minister at one time? Is this the thinking of a one-time Minister? Jumping the gun about the death of Teoh even before investigations are completed?

No wonder he's joining the PKR. The DAP would be delighted to have him. The DAP Sec Gen even wrote a letter blaming MACC for the death, making MACC responsible.

I think BN (I'm not a member of any political party) doesn't lose anything with him going. In fact, BN might even gain by not having that kind of a fellow among its ranks - high rank, too, at that.

It's mind bogling that people make judgments even before investigations are completed. Yet the Chief Minister of Penang is one of them. Maybe it's God's retribution for those who voted him. They get a so-called educated but not a rational minded fellow. God help the people of Penang.

Now it looks like they are going to get another of such kind in the person of a former Federal Minister.

about what is happening to our
beloved Malaysia.A two party system
is very much needed as a check and
balance.

commentators ,

please be careful with your comment.

this issue has got nothing to do with race and please stop offending each other.

they are just as sad and angry as you and many are crying their hearts out with deep condonlences to the deceased family and wife to be.

this is the time for all malaysians to be united on this one issue and not let TBH death be in vain.

Even in USA, where the two-coalition system has been ongoing for quite sometimes, switching from Repulican to Democrat and vice versa is a common scenes.

Same thing will happen here. This time around, it is from coalition A to B; next time around it may be from coalition B to A. Law of motion states that for every action there is always opposed an equal reaction.

Is there one good man in UMNO or MIC who would want to do the same?

Not that Chua is a good man....I suppose if he had been allowed to contest the seat in the last General Election, win or lose, he may not have had the same motivation to leave.

So saying that Teoh was the final tipping point...well....

A GOOD MAN DOES NOTHING.
