Zainul Arifin Is NSTP's New Group Editor

Update on my earlier posting.

NSTP's Emedia chief Zainul Arifin is the group's new group editor.

Zainul, 47, is also a columnist in NST. He was Business Times editor and NST's business editor. He had also served as NST's New York correspondent.

He replaces NSTP group editor-in-chief Hishammudin Aun.

Meanwhile, former NST group editor Ahmad A Talib has been appointed the group's executive director.

Ahmad, 58, also blogs as Pahit Manis.

So, the one who's got something to write rather than had to write something got the job. Zainul's got the intellect. Hope he's got the temperament too. Anyway, the company should re-designate editorial COO as Editor as there's no more MM and BT. Then Zainul's Group Editor make sense.

Hey kadir Jasin, time to join your faithuful lacky Ahmad Talib and have fun in the NST while you can. These two clowns are sure to provide comic relief.

I might not have thought of him kindly then, but I am grateful to Ahmad Talib for helping to mould my career. Why am I telling you all this? Because Ahmad Talib and Zainul Arifin, both has consistently stamped their personality and character on the newspapers that they led.

Throughout, however, was their insistence on proper work ethics, discipline and promptness. Now, there was no dark plot to stop or abort, AAT and ZA this time. And, please no dark conspiracy against them. We enjoy the company with them, not the curry. The unique thing about AAT and ZA is when something happened to them, the incidents did not change their commitment to journalism as an agent of change by vigilantly maintaining their role in shaping public opinion. When I joint NSTP group in 1984, among others things I learn is the basics of journalism including news writing and reporting, newspaper operations, core knowledge, Press law and ethics, information technology, and typing skills.

Well, to AAT and ZA, wellcome back and listen - the importance is team work and preparation for the challenging but rewarding career in journalism. But remember, the paper not only suffered in the quality of its journalism. Intellectuals, particularly journalists, should be able to use their specialised talents to change people, much in the way managers use their skill as a tool to improve their organisations' performance. TQ

welcome back Datuk Ahmad Talib dan Zainul. Tolonglah pulihkan maruah kumpulan NST yang telah dilacurkan selama lebih 5 tahun.
Sebagai kakitangan NST kami tertekan dengan kongkongan Kalimilah/brandan menerusi badut2 mereka.

Hope they can bring about credibility to a paper that is losing readership like crazy. I remember those days when NST was selling 500,000 papers a day. Now their circulation is slightly above 100K.

To be fair to Hisham Aun..during his acceptance speech on being promoted to GEIC ..."from this moment I have to look for another job..". He just knew that his tenure will be a short one..so he is just making the best what he can...and the cycle will be repeated for sure..
