PM Tells Zaid To Rethink....

KUALA TERENGGANU, Sept 15 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi Monday advised Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Zaid Ibrahim to take a leave and rethink his decision to quit the post.

Abdullah said Zaid met him at Seri Perdana, the prime minister's official residence in Putrajaya, Monday afternoon and conveyed his intention to quit the post.

"He mentioned the matter to me but I said, think carefully.

"If he is tired, he can take a leave... a short one will do," Abdullah told reporters after breaking fast and performing the Maghrib prayers with the people and state leaders at the Abidin Mosque here.

Also present were Abdullah's wife Datin Seri Jeanne Abdullah, Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Said, Information Minister Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek and Umno Secretary-General Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.

Zaid was reported to have tendered his resignation as Minister in the Prime Minister's Department and that the resignation letter was handed over to the prime minister in Putrajaya at 2pm Monday.

Abdullah confirmed that Zaid had sent the resignation letter to his office Monday.

However, the prime minister said he had yet to see the letter and that he did not know the reasons for Zaid's action.

"The letter is not with me. Zaid met me at home; the letter was sent to the office," he said.

Asked on what he thought of Zaid's decision, Abdullah said Zaid was free to do so and that his action would not weaken the cabinet.

Sunday, Zaid, the de-facto law minister, said he was prepared to be sacked or ordered to quit for speaking out against the government's use of the Internal Security Act (ISA).

He said the act should be used specifically to stem the activities of terrorists, communist subversives and those attempting to topple the government by force.-- BERNAMA

Apa nak jadi.. Apa dah jadi sampai sekarang tak jadi jadi. That is how cool is our PM, his answer indicates his ignorant and his admission that the resignation will not weaken the cabinet even the entire cabinet resign leaving him alone nothing will happen as the nation is running on Auto mode.Anyway, Selamat Pagi Malaysiaaaaa... and selamat berpuasa. dh9753

  4. Sis,

Nobody ask TDM to rethink his decision when he decided to leave. Mereka gembira apabila TDM meninggalkan UMNO.

But, they asked Zaid to rethink his decision? He's more valuable than TDM?

  5. When one buy a new hot-water flask, unscrew the top and placed it's mouth (the opening) to one's ear, one can hear ocean roars. If one cannot hear it, it means the flask is 'bocor'. Zaid heard it on his and I hope he keep it and not accepting a bocor one from PM who has plenty.

i think PM should ask our home minister to resign. His reason is beyond anyone logical mindset. Protection using ISA. Are your crazy?

  7. And our sleeping idiotic prime minister still continues with "I don't know " response.

Yeah, when confronted with with uncomfortable questions, maybe he finds his comfort in "I don't know"!

I guess his answer to what is 2 + 2 would also be "I don't know"!

This silly goat has had more "I don't know" responses to questions than anyone else I know.

And what is there to know about why Zaid Ibrahim quit? Even people barely in touch with politics in Malaysia would tell you why isn't it?

Oh...when can we be rid of this man?

Zaid used to be punished for his act of money politics.he also loses his seat big time as the Kota Bharu UMNO chief before this.

perhaps Zaid had planned to quit in such way and the ISA is just an excuse.

many people had been arrested before under ISA but why just now he decided to be vocal about it?

  10. Nuraina,

From latest reports, looks like he's de man.

I may not agree with his views on the ISA but I applaud him for sticking to his guns and standing up for his principles.

First off, just go back to history on who Zaid really is. Operating for a very small ofice in Bank Pembangunan building and made lots of money through Halim Saad who was then an UMNO nominee. With that money, paved his way Kota Bahru division UMNO but was unsuccessful. Convicted for money politics. Stayed away and remained as the so-called pressure group to the government. Didn't get to run for election but made a senator. Made Law Minister .....what a joke for someone who has never defended even a bicycle theft case.

So what principle are you talking about ???????
