Opposition MPs File A Motion of No-Confidence Against PM

Pakatan Rakyat MPs led by MP for Permatang Pauh and PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Ismail, have filed a motion of no confidence against the Prime Minister and his Cabinet.

The motion, filed under Section 18 (1) and (2) of the House Standing Order, was passed to Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia at his office in Parliament House at 3.30pm today.

The Speaker has promised to give full consideration to the motion.

According to the NST, "it has been understood that the motion will be rejected after it is read on Monday."

NST also said that "Dr Wan Azizah is not perturbed by the reality that the motion will be rejected."

So what's the whole point, you may ask?

Dr Wan Azizah said: "The idea of filing the motion is to highlight the people's grievances against the Barisan Government."

She was speaking to a packed Press conference at the Parliament lobby.

i don't know enough about politics and parliamentary but it is interesting to note that pr did this after the sapp huhaha . are they hoping earlier that sapp to do the honour ? or is it now they believe they have the number ?

They are desperate lot and have nothing better to do. Couldn't they see that their action could further cripple the economy or they doing on purpose to devastate the economy and blame it to the government so that they can topple them.

We vote them to be a constructive voice, but they are making a fool of themselves.

Wan Azizah and Anwar tring their luck to change the govt. So that they can have only Syariah law to settle that liwat claim.

Under syariah the accuser is persumed guilty unless proven right. The accused does not have to prove anything.

Care to correct me ?

"Dr Wan Azizah said: "The idea of filing the motion is to highlight the people's grievances against the Barisan Government." RIGHT. I think the PR has HIGHLIGHTED that grievances enough. Why can't they channel their energy instead into motions that actually affect the livelihood of their constituencies? petrol, electricity, subsidy, anyone? or maybe they're trying to stall for that Mr de-facto to come up with his next grand move?

Highlight grievances? aren't there better ways? well of course those other ways won't be as attention grabbing as this one. How foolish I am to forget that Anwar's camp goes for maximum impact here, Turkish embassy, US sternly worded slap-on-the-wrist, asking Rudd to sound off our government for mistreating him..

Ena,

The timing of this no-confidence vote (NCV) is all wrong. It is being tabled at a time when the Pakatan Rakyat is seen as weak, or weakened by the sodomy allegation, assassination claim, and the SDs (RPK's as well as Bala's). If anything, I find that there is growing no-confidence against Anwar. He seems to be playing the teasing and taunting games over the Altantuya murder case. People are beginning to get tired of these games and asking him to please show the evidence.

Secondly, tabling a NCV just to highlight the people's grievances is a feeble thing to do or say.

You lose confidence in a leadership because of that leadership's incompetence. Because of its inability to create growth, alleviate our hardships, etc.

I thought we'd already highlighted the people's grivances at the Carbuerator Dung's concert last weekend?

And on blogs, the people's grievences are highlighted every day.

The Pakatan Rakyat have obtained my vote on 08 March 08. The opposition MPs have the legal and democratic right to file the motion of no-confidence against the sleeping PM. I am very happy about this positive development. The Pakatan Rakyat is doing their job on my behalf. TQ very much, Madam ... Wali Kota

It's about time.

The "Motion of No-confidence" is against the PM i.e. AAB, not the whole Government.

So, that does not mean PR is attempting a take over, just replace the PM with someone within the existing BN Government. That's what most people want, right? Thank you Wan Azizah.

Approximately on 10 July 2008, Dr Wan Azizah Ismail (MP for Permatang Pauh ) filed a motion of no confidence against the Prime Minister and his Cabinet. Is there anything wrong? What’s wrong with filing a motion of no confidence against the Prime Minister and his Cabinet. I cannot state that I know all the laws of Parliament, but preventing a Member of Parliament (MP) from filing a motion of no confidence may be unwise. Even if the motion is rejected, it is the right of the MP to file the motion.

It becomes a problem if the MP is prevented from filing a motion. If the MP is in any way prevented from filing a motion, then it sends a message that the same MP is unwelcome into the Parliament in Kuala Lumpur. If the MP is unwelcome in the Kuala Lumpur Parliament, then the rejected MP’s may have to set up a separate Parliament for themselves in another location inside Malaysia. Watch out. You see, preventing the MP’s from filing a motion is even worse still. Please do file a motion of no confidence in the Kuala Lumpur Parliament if you want to. Even if it does not succeed, at least you tried. Good luck.

Nuraina, on the ISA family case....why don't all blogs harness the power of the 500k blogs in Malaysia, sedekah seringgit seorang pun jadilah, monthly, to start a permanent fund for ISA families...imagine kalau 50k to 100k blogs pun,dah berapa...maybe can be permanent fund for needy...i suggested to rocky, i don't know if it is feasible for all-blogs...

...we could even go to visit Aina's family...i heard rumah dia org usang betul...and Aina actually just slipped and fell...and died.

Alah Rocky

"Delusion of grandiosity" dan masalah "shared paranoid delusion". Itu satu personaliti DSAI dan Wan Azizah.

Firstly they deluded themselves into thinking that the PRU results if anything reflect people are totally supporting them.

Secondly they refuse to acknowledge the fact that the votes for PR are mainly protest votes.

Thirdly, Hindraf supporters and their fanatics supporters did nothing but to strengthen their delusion that the majority of the rakyat are with them.

Fourthly, they got this delusion that they are the voice of rakyat - they sort of self appoint themselve, masuk bakul tarik sendiri.

Biasalah.

Is it possible to to file a motion of no-confidence to the His Majesty Chief Opposition? Why not? I for one has lost confidence in her.

I am sure it will get majority support from the floor. Will she resigned from the her position then?

Shouldn't there anything better to do? Of course lah the opposition will never have confidence in the Prime Minister. Not Tunku, Razak, Hussein, Mahathir and now Dollah.

LOL, what a waste of time knowing the fact that the motion will be rejected. Everyone is aware of the people grievances these days.

There are more important issue to table during the seating rather then influncing the people mind.

Come to think of it there are no difference between PKR and the present government. Nothing is being done to stimulate the economy.

This is a great initiative and will certainly help them.

Nuraina,

I find its terribly difficult to believe PKR people, Abdullah & the gangs. Tian Chua with the fake photo of Najib with Altantuya, Anwar Ibrahim with the MPs defection, Ezam was said having 9 boxes of proof of government corrupts, ETC, ETC... All were 'wayang'.

This NCV is just another PKR's wayang to fool the rakyat. Maybe its more of a wayang to play down some claims that Abdullah and Anwar are in 'tag-team' to sink Najib. Thats my take.

Masa pilihanraya, saya telah mengundi untuk Pakatan Rakyat.

Perdana Menteri dalam 100 hari tidak menunjukkan sebarang perubahan.

Minyak naik.

Korupsi masih berleluasa, menteri menteri kaya raya masih bebas tak disiasat.

Kadar jenayah tinggi dan cadangan-cadangan Royal Comission of Inquiry into Police masih tidak dilaksanakan.

Maka, perdana menteri kita jelas incompetence.

Maka motion of no confidence ini sah.
