Lying Women Bloggers

Tengku Adnan Said So
In January, Indonesian journalist Nila Tanzil came to Malaysia as part of a 17-member Indonesian media delegation who was invited to cover Visit Malaysia Year, and specially the Floral Fest.
Nila was representing SCTV.
She came here with full credentials to do a story about beautiful Malaysia.
She had high expectations but was deeply disappointed because she was up against bureaucratic ineptness and did not get the co-operation she needed from Tourism Malaysia's personnel to enable her to do her job.
Nila is also a blogger. She expressed her disappointment in her blog.

Obviously, our Tourism Minister was not amused. When asked about Nila's comments, he shot back. He was quoted by a Chinese language newspaper.
Elizabeth Wong posted this in her blog. Unless the translation is inaccurate, this is what he said:

"Bloggers are liars. They use all sort of ways to cheat others. From what I know, out of 10,000 unemployed bloggers, 8,000 are women.
“Bloggers like to spread rumours, they don’t like national unity. Today our country has achievements because we are tolerant and compromising. Otherwise we will have civil war.
“Malays will kill Chinese, Chinese will kill Malays, Indians will kill everybody else.”
He asked people not to believe bloggers and gamble away Malaysia’s future because 50 years of Merdeka (Independence) takes a lot to achieve it.
“We have to show to the people our positive attitude. If the world learns from us, there will be peace and no civil war."

Read what my sisters Kak Teh, Susan Loone and Marina have to say. But, don't take their word for it. They are, after all, women bloggers.

How come am not surprised to read the statement?

What do we expect coming from the mouth of a stupid minister from a half past six cabinet?

    Pearls of wisdom?

    That will be the day!

    Hi Noraina

Welcome back. I just knew that you will not let this pass without taking a good shot at it. Hope you and family are coping up well, insyaAllah.

Even though I'm not a blogger, I get pissed off with this episode.

On the other hand, if he had not made that stupid remarks (a blunder), many of us will not be visiting Nila’s Blog to read her 31st Jan posting.

Anybody can relate to her frustration and disappointment. Its pretty embarrassing! I’m sure those who had voted for him (from Putra Jaya, right?) are equally surprised and embarassed with his attitude.

  8. When the truth is said against those with wisdom they will acknowledge it and mend their ways. The cunning will turn it around with excuses. When the same is said against fools, they will rant and rave. That's exactly what our minister is showing to the whole world. That the truth has been said.

Adnan has made us realise that the struggle against lies, stupidity, sycophancy, plagiarism, idiocy, fascism, corruption is not a one-off thing but a continual battle. It will go on and on as long as we have the stamina and will to see the fight through. Once again thanks to freedom fighters like rocky, nuraina, susan loone and many others for keeping the embers of the unending struggle burning.
TO STRIVE, TO SEEK, AND NOT YIELD.

  18. Here in our country, our ministers can do no wrong, and even if they did wrong, it was always the others who blow it out of proportion.

We had the Health Ministry blaming the Works Ministry, ACA investigating the Police officers and the Deputy Internal security minister, and the Police investigating the ACA D-G. Nothing can come clean as the pot and kettle is colored black.

    Aduh,
Kalau dah tak bijak tu, tak bijak jualah. Saya rasa geram sebab mulut yang kotor itu tidak akan dicili. Kalau anak-anak lah yang celupar seperti KuNan, dah pasti ditabascokan. Terlalu kurang ajar.
Saya harap Bapak menteri yang terlibat dapat menerangkan kenapa mulut dia kotor sangat bhila bercakap pasal bloggers. Takkan sebab dua tiga orang bloggers yang sundal-malang, semuanya sekali jadi busuk!? Samalah dengan hal KuNan ni: takkan pasal mulut dia seluruh badan Kabinet mesti binasa.
Mintak maaflah.

  20. for a moment, i think this is really a 'keterlaluan' comment.... but what can we do. like what i told susanloone, we bloggers should have an association, a representative as our voice.

    what say you?

Dia cakap ikut sedap mulut dia sahaja. Lately, ramai yang put their foot in their mouth. Kenapa ya?
If he had allowed a cool head to rule, he would not be in such a rut now.

  22. Zewt. I'd register if there is one. I am not the least bit surprised by the statement made by the minister. Not because I agree but stupidity could only come from the likes of him, idiocy describes him best. He must be ashamed to have a woman for a mother. Does she blog?

  23. Dear Kak Ena,

I am still stunned at what had been said. The comment was so uncalled for coming from a senior minister and all. Grrr….

    Dearest 3540 Jalan Sudin,

I hope you and your family are coping well in your recent bereavement.

I am too angry with the comment made by the dimwit minister.

I dedicate a poem to him, kalau Kak Ena sempat, jengok lah tengok. Sigh

  26. Kak Ena,

And amazingly, only SCJP dared enuf to publish such ludicrously defensive statements? Dont they know there're quite a number of non-chinese who read n understand mandarin. Memalukan. Come to think of it, those chinese newspapers r a bit bolder when it comes to publishing controversies.
Anyone read Tamil Nesan, Nanban and the likes here?

More language "decoding" here, please. We women are IT-illiterate (NOT).

No.1 : So he's also saying Rocky and Jeff are telling the truth in their blog and therefore NST should not sue them...bcos only women bloggers lie and male bloggers tell only the truth?
No.2 : As if nobody knows about the complexities of dealing with the Malaysian authorities and all the frustrating red tape to go thru even for the simplest matters.
No.3 : Why the heck is that silly ninny dragging in different races killing each other? What has it got to do with Nila's bad experience with his ministry's bunch of monkeys?
Slowly but surely, one by one, our "elected ministers" are showing how smart they are and the whole world will know how Malaysia is run by the "Smartest" bunch of monkeys in the universe.

Everyone who read Nila Tanzil article in Maverick’s Blog, must suspect that Nila was “Programmer” that travelling show.
    BLUNDER!
Nila only a freelance presenter - not journalist - who was hired for 6 months.
Her task in this agenda only speaking in front camera, with script that was made by the Producer.
Related all of them were composed by the Producer.
My opinion, Nila was shock and most startled, when crew got difficulty for cover the place of the place that was expected interested.

However for journalists that incident would not matter that often has been experienced during covered anything and anyplaces.

Nila was not happy, because did not have habit as journalist, then she repaid to write it.
    Journalist will not do that.

Nila wrote : “Being a PR myself, I couldn’t believe how the Malaysia Tourism Board didn’t understand what the media needed”

How come as a PR consultant she can not think clearly.
Necessarily she knew, “comitment” between two coorporate that was co-operating, if having the problem could be completed together.
    And not for public.
Bad PR for herself and her office “MAVERICK’S”.

    Very important from all.
this incident was begun resulting from the staff’s mistake Malaysian Tourism Board that was Indonesian, and did not have the experience in Malay.

Then.. is there anybody asked 90 journalist that was invited also to Malay?
Is there any complain, like Nila did?
    So?
But I do not agree with Minister

well, I've learned that in this case not jus nila whose dissapointed durung the event. in ndoro kakung's blog """"Pecas Ndahe by Ndoro Kakung
hidup nila tanzil !"""" Mr. Gun has posted his comment himselves to clarificates that nila's statement is true...
so it's not like fatima think, right?
and also that even a presenter often have to work their script by their own. Thats the fact in tv production nowadays... So.. my point is :
    1. Why is the Tengku Adnan said that bloggers are liar instead of working hard to find a replacement for those whose responsible for this case?
    2. Whether nila is a journalist, a presenter, or a pr are not the problem here coz the problem is That Tengku Adnan owe an apologize to blogger, Nila, and every woman in this world.
3.MTB should stop pointing on whose wrong or right, but admit that is a mistake's made by the employee.
    4. Now that Nila's has lost her gig's , MTB should give a replacement to what she has lost. It's really not fair what she had through because of this matter.

BLoGGer , Keep tell the truth...!!
    regards
