Verdict 901: Acquitted And Discharged

How many of you were so sure that Anwar will be damned today?

Hah! Gotcha!

Anwar's a free man.

This morning, the High Court discharged the Opposition leader after acquitting him of sodomising his former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan.

Justice Mohamad Zabidin Mohd Diah took three minutes to deliver his judgment.

He said there was no collaborating evidence to support Saiful’s testimony and no proof to support his testimony.

"The court cannot rely solely on his testimony."

Anwar, after his acquittal, said he was thankful that justice has been served.

“Thank God, I have been vindicated. My focus now will be at the coming elections,” he said.

Saiful, in an immediate response, tweeted that he will continue to remain calm, pray and accept the court decision.

"Not in this world, but definitely in Masyar (after life)."

Long-drawn case. Too long. So politically-charged. Relieved it's over. Too many details. Too much information. Yet not enough.

In Twitter, people were giving their two cents' worth. Anwar's supporters/detractors, anti-BN, pro-BN. It was madness.

Yep. As Art Harun said, the washing machines from both sides started spinning with gusto.

Here's a take on the kangaroo court that acquitted Anwar.

So,..is this all really over?
Can we move on?
But, everyone, it seems, is waiting for the written judgment.

And, the general election.

i think we have to stop maligning the PM like that. By doing that, we are insulting our judges.

The judge made a decision. he made a ruling.

Guilty -- wrong ruling. Acquitted and discharged -- oh, someone made the judge do that.

3 years of someone life, and millions of ringgit of my tax money wasted on a spurious case that should've never even be brought to court. Malaysia is such a mess!

If Anwar had not lambasted the judge from the accused stand, he might have just got a hug like Karpal had.

Saiful has 6 million reasons to be patient. It is another story whether his future is rosy, mah? After all, he is a self-confessed passive homosexual.

You know where these gays come from?
    Right under our noses.
When a boy gains admission to a fully residential boarding school at a young and tender age of 13, he is subjected to sodomy by the ragging senior students. As these acts are repeated, the innocent boy gets hooked by this means of sexual pleasure. And the gays of today are made.
So if your son is a jambu, DON'T send him to a residential school. You will regret it for life.
Anwar was in MCKK where sodomising is rampant. Ask his classmates and you will get the answer.
Look around you and you will notice a lot of gays who are from residential schools.

Did the Judge say he was "not 100% certain?" In criminal law the standard is "beyond reasonable doubt" only. Either Judge was misreported or does not know what he is sayig. I hope it is the former.
