Stay Out and Stay Away -- Gaddafi to US and Nato

"We will not accept an intervention like that of the Italians that lasted decades. We will not accept a similar American intervention. This will lead to a bloody war and thousands of Libyans will die if America and NATO enter Libya." - Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.

As the embattled Libyan president launches counter-offensives against rebels, revolutionaries and freedom-fighters, the US, Britain and other NATO countries are drawing up contingency plans to impose a no-fly zone over Libya to prevent Gaddafi's air forces from striking these forces.

The US is moving naval and air forces closer to Libyan shores and is calling for Gaddafi to give up power immediately. But any no-fly zone would need a mandate from the U.N. Security Council, where veto-holding Russia opposes the idea.

Okay, so the US is still trying to play sheriff of the world. At this time, it has lost much credibility to denigrate or chastise any foreign country.

And to prepare to attack Libya, a sovereign country, the US must think the world is blind to its own sinister agenda.

Let the people of Libya decide their future and shape their own destiny. The US cannot make an arbitrary decision here.

The US tricked and deceived the world about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, invaded the country and had Saddam Hussein executed, now leaving much of Iraq in disarray and a real mess, except where the oil pipelines are....

Well, it ain't happening again. We can't be tricked.

The US has no right to attack Libya. So what if Gaddafi is delusional? Let his people, the Libyan political process and the UN deal with him. The UN is already tightening the screws on Libya.

But, really...who can stop the US from doing what it wants to do?

Yes, you are right. Let's just let Gadaffi kill his people who are throwing stones at tanks. For your principles, how many more should die ?

Oh, I don't think these things should worry you too much. You should just concentrate writing at NST. These things are way above your head anyway. You write for the NST. How would you know about fighting tyranny or freedom of speech? Memang kelakar.

  4. You are right that no one can tell the US what to do. So why your rant?
If one cannot come up with something a little more obvious better to remain silent than to engage blog before brain.

But I guess some people just have to say something.

Stick to what you are good at. UMNO politics will be a good starting place.

    Have a great day!

    Yes Kak,
let all of us allow Kadhafi to kill, maim, burn and shot innocent babies, women and people of Libya. US and all other countries should not bother, after all, we are not that innocent here in Malaysia, right...

We have history of Memali, May 13th, Bersih and Hindraf rallies to be very proud of...

  7. atanjamilselamat,

nobody wants another rwanda or bosnia.

we all remember how that happened.

we also know what happened in Irag, to Iraq. Afghanistan.

Do you think what is happening in Libya justifies an attack by the US?

If you think seriously about, you will know that an attack on Libya will have collateral damage.

Who do you think will be killed?

    Come on, man.

  8. atanjamilselamat: trust me, sir. you wouldn't want the US to be meddling in your affair. Let's leave it to the UN to "discipline" Gadhafi.
Already the governments of foreign countries are freezing Gadhafi's assets.
Surely, we all have learnt from Iraq and Afghanistan. Surely, by now, we know what will happen when the US interferes.

    Cheers!

  9. Eva,

you know eva...people forget that Libya has a compelling history of foreign occupation and resistance. Thousands died under Italian colonial rule. Those calling for western military action in Libya seem unperturbed by the fact that throughout the Arab world, foreign intervention, occupation and support for dictatorship is pivotal to the problems of the region, and inextricably linked to the demand for democratic freedoms is a deep desire for independence and self-determination.

That is tangible and clear in reaction on the ground in Libya to the threat of outside intervention.

As one of the rebel military leaders in Benghazi, General Ahmad Gatroni: "The US should take care of its own people, we can look after ourselves".

  10. when no action were taken in Rwanda or Bosnia until its too late .. the UN was blamed for its inaction.
Now Ghadafi is using heavy arms to attack fellow Libyans.
Ghadhafi will never submit to Libyan. Remember he have been in power for over 42 years.
If the world wait any longer, its going to be one more human genocide and this time with OUR blessing us!

and the world watched helpless as american bombs pulverised Iraq and Afghanistan.

i hope you're just jesting here, suggesting that we should all cheer on the US to launch a strike on Libya.

A US attack is the last thing the world wants.

Rwanda and Bosnia are lessons in history where the international community and the superpowers should be helping.

Iraq and Afghanistan are lesson about why we should reject any notion that US should attack.

Malaysia was strong against the attack on Iraq.

The US does not represent the world. Already the UN has acted against Libya and as we debate this, pressure is mounting for Gaddafi to step down. He ahs already been referred to the war tribunal.

Surely you can see the US game here.

Not wanting the US to attack Libya does not equal wanting to see genocide in Libya.

  12. Sorry Dato but I said "..the UN was blamed for its inaction."

And if the UN delegate it to the US to do the job would it be okay? And , who are we to say otherwise.

Frankly, my heart and sympathy is to the Libyans. No I'm not being funny. Maybe a little ignorance ...

    Cheers Dato !
