God bless you please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray...
hey hey, hey......
You may not remember "Mrs Robinson". Heck, some of you may not even know the song -- this 1968 single by Simon and Garfunkel.
Anyway, this song has become the subject of frequent requests to Belfast radio stations in the wake of revelations of a sordid affair between Iris Robinson (wife of Northern Ireland's First Minister, Peter Robinson) and a 19 year-old, er, boy. (He is young, actually, very young. And Mrs Robinson is 60.)
Read the latest HERE.
Mrs Robinson in the song and the real deal Mrs Robinson? "Irresistablly comical", this whole affair?
Actually, this report about Iris Robinson's affair that scandalized her husband's position, is not new. I wanted to post this yesterday but it was one thing after another, and I forgot.
Let's take our minds off things, for a moment.
Am tired of hearing 50+ year old Datuks and VIPs marrying trophy wives young enough to be their daughters in the name of 'jodoh'.
ReplyDeleteLet the roles be reversed once in awhile.
Simon and Art Garfunkel didn't sang it this way:
ReplyDelete"ALLAH loves you more than you will know
ALLAH bless you please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray..."
It speaks volume for the issue we are facing today.
AkuMelayu
i say AkuMelayu,
ReplyDeleteIsa is the Muslim equivalent-lah.
and Yesus is how Jesus is referred to by Indonesian Christians.
so, it should be "Isa sayang mu....
"Isa restui mu, Puan Robinson or Nyonya Robinson...."
AkuBukanMelayu
Will pray to any God for lottery. First prize aaaa, million million ringgit one, not the RM50 consolation. Business down, got bills to pay.
ReplyDeleteAku Du-it MyWay
I think it is not appropriate, given the current situation for you to begin your article with the word 'Jesus' followed in the next paragraph with "yeah, yeah, yeah'
ReplyDeleteIt gives the wrong perception... that you are being cynical ala the latest controversy.
JUSTICE
anon/5:36PM Justice,
ReplyDeletethere you go.
this is a real story about a real person and the report is a real report in Belfast.
and that line is not from my imagination.
lyrics of a song.
besides "yeah, yeah, yeah" in this particular song..."yeah, yeah, yeah" are words very much sung in gospel...especially by african american congregation.
Goodness Gracious! Kak Ena, why even bother with anon JUSTICE?
ReplyDeleteI guess taking our minds off things is beyond to some people. Must remind people like JUSTICE that there is life out there!
Hmmm this cougar thing....interesting isn't it Kak Ena?
The husband is fighting to retain his position in the wake of revelations of his wife's sexual behavior?
ReplyDeleteTo imagine here, in Malaysia, we have a Non-Muslim Yang Berhormat herself engaged in a sexual relationship, affair with a Muslim married man, yet still showing her face in the Dewan?
Last Saturday, I think, they had this "no plastic day" and when requested for explaination, the counter staff referred them to a directive signed by this Yang Berhormat.
My son was stunned, (not tuned to whats going on) was shocked, when suddenly someone burst out " OOoo itu Pu@*Net glamour punya jalang", and why the big group were laughing..came back and related the whole incidence to me and asked me "who is this Elizabeth?".
Sad eh, the quality of leaders we have today?
IBU
The Robinson scandal even made it to Australia's most famous Bondi Beach where Paul played a tribute to Iris amusing the Irish travellers...

cheers
.
ReplyDeleteit does not take much to make them or for them to quit their posts over there, doesn't it?
.
1 little, 2 little 3 little...
ReplyDelete39,000??? Come again? 39,000!!!???
I wonder if they are contributing to the rising crime rate.
Nuirani,
ReplyDeleteJust wondering. Since you & your family including your dad has much affinity with Singapore, what do you think about Singapore's way of handling the issue?
Better? Worst? Reminds me of the Tudung issue quite some time ago. As usual Malaysian government capitalising on this those days, Singapore government acted quickly by charging that parent resulting the fleeing of that fellow to Australia
Najib would have done better by having a pre-emptive strike but unfortunately, there are lapses. Even their message before the bombing seems to promote such acts.
Nuirana,
With all those enactments resurrected, then how? Mrs Robinson's song would be banned. It's pandora box opened by BN government.
I believe your dad knows how such acts brought to chaos & mayhems in Singapore in the 60s
the link u gave says the lyrics are NOT 'yeah yeah yeah"
ReplyDeletestop spinning!
dont be kurang ajar Nuraina!!!
ReplyDeleteits "hey hey hey" NOT "yeah yeah yeah" and look at ur "yeah yeah yeah", its not part of the song when u wrote it. Double meaning??
just trying to show a glimpse of whats its like if we behaved similarly
