Here's why -- and it's not my own biased opinion.
LOS ANGELES: Web surfing boosts the brain function of middle-aged and seniors with little Internet experience, say scientists at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), according to China's Xinhua news agency.
"We found that, for older people with minimal experience, performing Internet searches for even a relatively short period of time can change brain activity patterns and enhance function," said study author Dr. Gary Small, professor of psychiatry at the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior at UCLA.
Dr Small and his team selected 24 volunteers between the ages of 55 and 78. Half of the participants had Internet experience, while the other half had very little experience.Continue reading here....
i'm totally agreed with the scientist in that University. i knew that for a long time ago.
ReplyDeleteMost of the westertn scholar said, TV is an idiot box. Because its can make your barian passive. But the internet is different, because you only surf a web taht u want to see.
Compare to Tv, it makes you seat for a hours. It's forced u to watch a program that u dont want to see for a start.
Thats why, people who always wsting time at the front of TV, looked passivand sometimes liked idiot.
The conclusion is, change from TV to internet so that our brain can become more clever.
Oh wow! This is great news for me! Its been two months now that I am working long hours surfing the internet. And at first, I thought my brain is not working as fast as it used to be. I even sought to take brain booster vitamins. But then I noticed as I go along with my internet experience, my brain is improving. Now, I can say that I am on my tiptop shape. Thanks for post. It only confirmed that I am doing the right thing. :-) Rental Property Management
ReplyDeleteWah, sama2. Saya pun tip top jugak kiranya. Bagus, boleh terus surfing dan exercise the brain muscles.
ReplyDeleteDepend on what people surf. If they only go to the RPK's blog day in and day out, what do we expect the brain to react? Most likely it would have regressed!
ReplyDeleteYes, their brain could not have been function any better ie to think out of anti-this-and-that context; and that include the tendency to joint the blokes who are only good at making silly comments.
If this trends continue unchecked, do expect the number demented brains are on the rise!

ReplyDeleteAh, Nuraina.... Why can't you mega popular blogger-journalist types work the brain harder and write intelligent stuff like some other bloggers...... sigh.... we readers can only mimpi rite?
ReplyDeleteOf course the internet boosts our brain function.
ReplyDeleteWorking the internet is not an easy task like watching TV. First you need to be AT LEAST semi computer literate to use the internet.
To the children a computer may be KACANG, but to unexposed old timers a computer is as alien as a Klingon.
I first learned to use computers in the early 90's (the days when DOS prompts ruled the planet), now I CAN HARDLY keep up with my 13-year old niece.
To smoothly use the internet you first need to learn the basic functions of an internet browser, such as bookmarking and opening a new tab.
Since you would rather eat dirt than ask your six-year old son how to achieve these tricks, so you are forced TO USE your brain and learn.
Then comes the harder part, filling an e-form to register a free e-mail account, and again the shame of asking your teenage daughter would be too unbearable that you are unwillingly forced TO USE your brain and learn.
So after a couple of months browsing the net, your rusty cerebral cortex would suddenly develop 'muscles'.
Let the light of technology shine upon all of us.
ya i agree it became more clever...
