Paris In Autumn

Rocky texted me: "Anything different about Paris?".

"Like what?" I asked.

"The buildings, the people...the air?"

Hmm...actually I can't tell. Perhaps, more and more Parisians speak English and are not loath to do so.

Parisians and tourists queuing up to get into the Louis Vuitton store.

Great coffee anywhere in Paris...

Are they any friendlier than the last time I was in the city.

Oh. Some things don't change.

But I love the baguette and coffee....

Not the exchange rate, though. The euro is killing me.

Kak Ena, I miss Paris! From 2001 to 2007 I used to travel to Paris twice a year for business. Now not anymore. The smell of its side walk cafe and cheese, wallah! I will be back, Insyallah next April. Kalau ada masa shopping, go the the factory outlet di luar Paris. Boleh jadi gila!

Don't know whether I wasted my hard-earned money. Twice visited Paris on shoe-string. But twice closetted myself in the art museums (Musee d'Orsay, Musee Picasso, Musee Rodin, musee d'Art Moderne). Did not see much else. The food, Arab especially, is heavenly. Don't think I can afford another trip now that I'm retired.

    Dear Aina,
Paris brings back memories for me too. I covered the 22nd General Conference of Unesco (I think it was the 22nd). It was back in 1987, i think.

Wah! 22 years ago. Time flies.

Is Unesco still in Place De Fontenoy?

Oh, I miss Paris. Been back there twice only..... and it was never enough.

Yes, the sidewalk cafe and the smell of fresh coffee is always better in the cold

    cheers
    KH

  7. Salam Kak Ena,

I think so too - that more parisian speak English now. Or rather less reluctant to do so, especially with tourists/foreigners. Of course, this was based on my limited observation only ....

p/s Coffee? Could almost smell the aroma in the air. So now kena turun ke kitchen and mix a cup of coffee...but nescafe only lah for time being. Cheers!
