From Malaysiakini:
About 500 people marched behind a gold-coloured hearse carrying the body of Kugan Ananthan, who died in police custody last Tuesday.
The procession from Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) in Petaling Jaya - where the second post-mortem was conducted on Sunday - left at 2.05pm.
The crowd marched to a Hindu cemetery some 20 kilometres away in Puchong and briefly walked pass the police station in Subang Jaya where Kugan died.
The long march, under the hot sun and later in heavy rain, took two hours and 30 minutes to reach the destination.
Earlier this morning, police closed all roads leading to UMMC ahead of the funeral procession.
The police have arrested five people - three for wearing a T-shirt of the banned movement Hindraf, and the other two for trying to breach a police barricade to enter the UMMC mortuary.
Among those arrested was Hindraf coordinator RS Thanendran.
Your silence is eloquent, Nuraina. I will not be visiting your website anymore.
ReplyDeleteThe question in everyone's mind is, how come the 11 policemen are not arrested yet? Transferred to desk duties? What for?
ReplyDeleteanon@9:40PM<
ReplyDeleteyeah, right.
looking at your IP, you're pretty regular here.
but, to your eloquent accusation that I am silent (on what, I'm not sure), I am baffled.
whatever is it that you must mean.
but it matters not. it really amtters not.
anon@10:10PM,
ReplyDeleteyes. that's the question on everyone's mind.
While there is one criminal less on the streets, the Police must also be accountable for their actions.
ReplyDeleteLet's face it. Criminal rampage is on the rise and they are getting bolder by the hour.
Do we need to glorify criminals?
A GOOD MAN DOES NOTHING.
menyusahkan orang jer sedara mara kugan ni...
ReplyDeleteSkrg ni gangster dah jadi hero
polis yg jadikan die hero
ReplyDeletekan mengikut polis, kugan telah membantu polis mendapat balik berpuluh kereta mewah yg dicuri?
kalau dia tidak maut di balai
kalau berjaya dibawa ke mahkamah
keterangan kugan mungkin mededahkan orang tertentu yg
berkaitan rapat dgn polis
kalau polis bertempur dan menembak mati penjenayah yg bersenjata, sememangnya polis hero
kalau suspek keseorangan di balai dikerumuni polis dan didapati mati, adakah polis masih layak dipanggil hero ?
kalau sedara mara kau mati di balai
awak pun berhak menuntut keADILan
I think a lot of you have got it wrong. Kugan was not made a hero. The funeral procession was< i believe, a protest against police brutality. Enough of custodial deaths! We have a full fledged justice syatem here - criminals should be tried and not killed the way Kugan was. Sometimes, this kind of torture could also force suspects to admit to crimes that they dod not committ and in the process the real culprits tend to go scot free.
ReplyDeletecar thefts & the suspect 'must' die
