Mumbai Terror : Searching For Answers & Pointing Fingers

As Indian security officials investigate the attack on Mumbai, India has already blamed "some elements in Pakistan" for the massacre that left some 174 people dead.

India said the 10 militants who rampaged through its financial capital were not only from Pakistan but were also controlled from within that country.

India has blamed the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba group, who oppose Indian rule in Kashmir, for the attacks.

If Pakistan fails to act swiftly against those responsible, India has threatened to pull out of a nearly five-year-old peace process between the nuclear rivals.

Islamad has denied that"Pakistani elements" were behind the violence and has called on India to share evidence.

Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi avered:
"Our hands are clean, we have nothing to hide and nothing to be ashamed of because this government feels that good neighbourly relations with India are in the interests of Pakistan."

Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari told CNN that he had been given no tangible proof that the surviving gunman was a Pakistani, and that he doubted the Indian claim.

Naturally such suggestions and accusations are threatening to further escalate the already tense relations between the two countries.

And with this latest terror attacks, the US-initiated and sponsored war on terror must be stepped up, for sure.

    i'm not partically sure if America gonna poke their nose onto this issue.India claimed the surviving gunman was a Pakistani but Islamabad denied it saying they're given the tangible proof of that accusation.

    India now puts all the blame to Pakistan and Pakistan on the other hand says they got nothing to hide.

    then who's the real culprit?.up until now no party had came forward and claimed the attack.

    This is all very sad.
    A human life is a human life.
    When lost tragically it brings about untold grief and anger.
    In Mumbai its approx 200 lives lost.
    Humans not just from India but from nations all over.
    Some of the victims were tortured before death.
    If all this is done in the name of righteousness and purity..then something is horribly.
    God help us all in future.

    What a shame that this happened !!
    Many life's were lost.
    Fathers,mothers,brothers,sisters,uncles, aunties, children,husbands,wives....
    All basically innocently treading along the path of life for the day and yet met their end unexpectedly.
    Who is accountable here??
    Surely someone knows out there..
    Please tell the world and rid our beloved earth of these who would do dastardly as a means to an end.
    Families and friends are crying but foes can rejoice??!!
    No..man is of higher ground.
    We must overcome.

  5. I am a practicing Muslim, my late father was a devout Muslim, as is my mother. I believe I know a thing or two about Islam.

    Believe me, Islam does not preach violence. Even the Islamic codes of war as underlined by Caliph Abu Bakar (the Prophet's successor) clearly states;

    "Stop, O people, that I may give you ten rules for your guidance in the battlefield. Do not commit treachery or deviate from the right path. You must not mutilate dead bodies. Neither kill a child, nor a woman, nor an aged man. Bring no harm to the trees, nor burn them with fire, especially those which are fruitful. Slay not any of the enemy's flock, save for your food. You are likely to pass by people who have devoted their lives to monastic services; leave them alone"

    And even in the event of war, it is unlawful to torture or kill Prisoners of war or senselessly slaughter animals, let alone killing innocent civilians.

    The barbaric gunmen, if indeed they were Muslims, had breached the above codes and as thus, died as sinners. They have deviated from the true path. I believe no Muslim scholar anywhere in the world; would condone such a brutal act.

    How hard it is for Muslims to understand the following passage from the Quran;

    "...that whoever slays a soul, unless it be for manslaughter or for mischief in the land, it is as though he slew all men; and whoever keeps it alive, it is as though he kept alive all men.."

    Al-Ma'idah (verse 32).
