Wan Azizah Quits For Hubby....

.....and the party, of course.
PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail finally did it. She has quit as Permatang Pauh Member of Parliament to make way for husband Anwar Ibrahim to contest in a by-election.

She handed her resignation letter to Parliament Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia today.

At a press conference in Kuala Lumpur, she said she would remain party president.

Of her husband, Dr Wan Azizah said:
"Anwar Ibrahim has the experience and intelligence to reinvigorate our economy, and the charisma and integrity to unite Malaysians.

"And I'm not saying this just because he is my husband."

This is another interesting development in our country's politics....

I have known Wan Azizah when she was simply Dr. Wan Azizah.

It is sad to see when politician playing with the trust given to them.
It is disgusting to see that at the end of the day the public are just being use as nothing else but for the selfishness and arrogance of politicians.

    I wish her well.

I wish you and your bapak well too.
    Take care.

I, too, have known Wan Azizah since when she was an opthalmologist.

A humble and kind lady. She has been through much, and is strong and wise.

Her move is for the greater good of the rakyat.

If the rakyat disapproves, then they can easily vote for the other side.

I do not see a problem in this, unlike Anonymous 4:15 pm, who also interestingly has known Dr. Wan Azizah.

Take care, Nuraina, and my well wishes to Pak Samad always.

A proxy to her husband. They are more power-hunger motivated now then thinking about the people. The desperation is rising up as 16 Sept approaches.

Before AI stands for election he owes it to the people to explain why he asked the Chinese to go back to China when he was the deputy P.M..
Also explain to the people what he did for the non Malays when he was part of the racists UMNO.
Do not pretend to be too busy ?
Too busy coming up with excuses to be investigated for the love of backside ?
He owes these to the people if he has changed !

Kak Wan should not resign just to give way to her beloved husband. The public and the voters have come to know her simple and humble way in dealing things in parliment. We need her style and talents too.
And for Anwar, why cant he be a senator first?
Im worried of the hundreds of millions ringgit be channeled into one constituency just for the sake to deny Anwar from entering parliament.
Is it worth all the troubles?

Watched Buletin Utama (?) @TV3 just now, and must say DSAI looks oh-so-invigorating. It is very rare that TV3 has invigorated me this way. Hope it is not hangat-hangat tahi ayam, on the TV3 part.

in islam, being a leader is a burden that one must bear with the utmost care. it is not a gift, it is not prestigious. i faithful muslim knows that.

DSWA was never meant to be a politician. she had her husband separated from her, beared the sorrow and loneliness for six years during the infamous incarceration. she does not have the charisma nor the ambition that her husband has.

but she went thru it all despite the hardship. DSAI understand this, he once said that her wife is not someone who can take politics like he can, not someone who can take her enemy had on. remember he warned the media when they were harsh to her. that is their romance, that is one example of his love for her.

for her to have her husband back, i think she has planned this way back when she had her husband back in her arms. where do you see a politician's wife, at that age, hold her husband that way? it is time for DSAI to take the lead once again, protect her queen from the sword and arrow of his enemy.

i will always admire this couple. because everytime i see them together, i think to myself, these two are meant to be together.

    a real life love story

    a malaysian in riyadh,

In the likely event when DSAI and Pakatan take over the government, you can bet that TV3 will stop its biased reporting.

Concerning Wan Azizah, She did what is best for the country, i.e. her resignation is to be a catalyst for a change in the country. In the event of DSAI and Pakatan creating malaysian history by taking over the government, she must be credited for the role she played - a “loss” for her (as an MP) but a gain for the country … simply because the rakyat has been cheated for 51 years and is now disgusted with BN.

For me, she is top class! A dutiful wife, an unwilling politician pushed to the battlefront 10 years ago. Totally enjoyed watching how she whacked KJ in Parliament (how come KJ seems to know about the police report). Even right now, she is better than any first lady this country has ever had, and definitely immensely better than the other first-lady-in-waiting.

She has gone through hell for 10 years and came out with flying colours, holding the fort while her husband was in jail. Of course, DSAI is in the limelight as expected but she is rock steady as ever.

Hope one day she’ll write a book. Bet it’ll be a top seller. There’s much to learn from her life and experiences.

    to anon 415pm...

I do not know Wan Azizah..does it matter if you know her or not? If you do not agree with her politics or PKR politics, don't vote them.

If the choice is good for the nation why not? This is a free country..you can choose.

  13. To be absolutely selfish about it, I support what Anwar is doing now. He needs to come to power and BN needs to fall.

Does it matter to me that Anwar was a different devil when he was in UMNO? That he was an ultra-Nationalist with a bias towards everything Malay. After all he did try to indroduce Bahasa Baku, which of course was a miserable failure. What was that all about anyway?

Fact is AI is now caught in a current. This current is a jalan se-hala. No go back to UMNO days card here. And if he is the engine to accomplish what Malaysia needs to achieve anak Bangsa Malaysia which we all are, then I am with him in that current too. Unlike Anonymous 5.46, I don't need Anwar to explain himelf, although it would be good if he did.

Hey, the roller caster is still coasting and there is still time to get on....so get on I say.

Dear Anon 12.16am, whoever you may be ..

Thank you for sharing your views.

In the 1990s, there was a TV programme produced by BBC on Great Railway Journey. One of the programmes featured the train journey across Peninsular Malaysia (can't remmeber on KTM or E&O).

But what I clearly remember are the scenic beauty of Bukit Merah and one of the songs chosen for the backgound music. Yes, P. Ramlee's Azizah. It must be a tribute, a deep respect for our first lady in waiting, as you said.
