I was told today that the Malaysian-born mother of Sufiah Yusof -- the child prodigy who was admitted into Oxford at 12 years old, has started her own blog.
The blog is simply called Yusof Family -- the official family blog.
It does look like it is written by Halimahton.
The first posting on April 2, reads:
"Hi! This is the Yusof family’s official blog. We’ll be adding content here over time from Halimahton, Iskander, Zuleikha, Abraham, and Aisha; see the About page for our respective profiles."
In the blog, Halimahton tries to clear all the misconceptions and inaccuracies regarding her husband's purported involvement in the education of Sufiah, her siblings.
There is an FAQ where Halimahtom explains and clarifies. There are also dated photos of her and her children.
Nuraina,
ReplyDeleteI symphatise with Halimaton and her children for having to face the world who can be so cruel at times.
IT SICKENS ME TO SEE HALIMAHTON TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE HUGE PUBLICITY SURROUNDING HER DAUGHTER SUFIAH'S FALL FROM GRACE.
ReplyDeleteIT'S APPALLING THAT IT IS ONLY IN RETROSPECT THAT SHE IS SPEAKING UP AGAINST AN ABUSIVE HUSBAND AND FATHER.
WHEN THE GOING WAS GOOD AND THE GENIUS OF HER CHILDREN AND HUSBAND WAS GIVEN WIDESPREAD PUBLICITY SHE REVELLED IN IT AND I'M SURE ENJOYED THE GLAMOUR AND FINANCIAL BENEFITS.
NOW SHE IS SELLING WHAT SHE CLAIMS ARE HER TEACHING METHODS! HOW BIZARRE!
INSTEAD OF QUIETLY FINDING HER DAUGHTER AND PERSUADING HER TO COME BACK INTO THE FOLD, SHE IS ADDING TO SUFIAH'S TURMOIL AND AGONY.
I DON'T BLAME SUFIAH FOR GOING ASTRAY BECAUSE THE POOR GIRL WAS LED ASTRAY BY HER PUSHY, AMBITIOUS AND MAD PARENTS!
IF THIS IS GENIUS I'D RATHER REMAIN A DUD!
Dude! Tone down the caps!
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed saddenning to see a child prodigy's talent going down the drain. But she is a grown up and has her own mind to decide what is wrong and right. She had a choice and she choose what deemed right for her.
ReplyDeleteThis is indeed a family matter and none of you has the right to interfere or try to blame any of them. Tolong jangan jaga tepi kain orang!
You can only sympathise and provide whatever assistance that can be extended. The family has their own prestige to safeguard. However, if they decide to accept alms than go ahead and shower them with what you have.

Kak Nuraina,
ReplyDeleteI believe one day, Sufiah will come to her senses. As for know, who are we to judge her by what she's doing. Her past could be a lesson for us all. But it wouldn't be right for us to say she's wrong or she's right. We are not God and by judging her, we are claiming that we are better than God, aren't we?
I pray for her and her family.
There are two basic ways to be very well known

More so when you're fully exposed and clearly shown
To overcome any circumstances and be victorious

The only moral thing for the parents to do is to apologies to the victim/s, in this case Sufiah and her siblings for what has become of them. There is no need for any explanation, for they do not owe any to anyone outside of their own family. This is strictly a family matter. Why must she go on a defensive mode.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I wish to refrain from passing judgment on Sufiah, but I must say hooking, or escort services with sex thrown in, as what Sufiah would describe it, is immoral by any standard. However, Sufiah must have her reasons for doing her own things, and she is undoubtedly intelligent enough to know what shes doing, so, we should respect her for being herself and she deserve her own privacy.
The Parents have done enough damage to the family, and should just let the matter rest. Any amount of explanation is never enough to reverse the sufferings of Sufiah. The public's opinion can only conclude that the parent is just trying to pass the blame on someone or something else. We have heard enough of that from Pak Lah. So spare us the bull.
Tell you what, I am not a heartless chap. I've 260 quid in hand. I'll save her for two hours, how does that sound?!
ReplyDeleteSheesh....

I think the mother has herself to blame for not really taking care of the kids. You don't just give them full independence. Like they say in Malay, taking care of kids are like playing kites. Once in a while you let go of the string, other times, you pull them back.
ReplyDeleteWhen Sufiah went AWOL, what did the mother do? I have not read any postings, even on her website, her efforts to help / understand Sufiah. Maybe she did, but was it enough? When Sufiah was in Singapore, did she attempted to go to Muar, to see her relations? No, can't find any postings on that either. Or maybe, the mother too have problems with her own family in Muar. I am assuming that 'cos she have given up her citizenship and the kids are all British citizens. I bet if they had gone to Muar, the press would have put them on the front page, as usual.
So, I assume, Sufiah was on her own and she may have felt that she was alone in this world. So, what she does is her own business. No one cares, not even her own mother.
I pity Sufiah, her mother, her siblings and everyone else who knows her and feels for her. She does not deserve this. Not this lifestyle.
As with other girls who have been in prostitution, there is hope yet. Believe in yourself and believe that God loves everyone even if no one else does. You decide what you want to do tomorrow and God is ever willing to accept you back.
