Makkal Osai Will Be Back On Newstands...

I am glad that Tamil daily Makkal Osai had its publishing license renewed by the Home Ministry which had earlier turned down the daily's application for renewal.

Makkal Osai will be back on the stands this Saturday.

Its general manager (according to the Star) said he had met with Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar on Tuesday.

The newspaper ceased publication for a week after it failed ot get a renewal of its licence on April 16.

While this is good news, I am wondering why the change of heart, if indeed he ministry believed that the newspaper was in violation of guidelines?

Why did the ministry reject Makkal Osai's application for renewal of its permit in the first place, only to change that decision later?

Worrying this flip-flop in decision-making.

(*In August last year, Makkal Osai was suspended for one month for publishing a picture of Jesus Christ holding a cigarette in one hand and a can of beer in the other on its front-page.
The newspaper began operations as Tamil Osai in 1981, and changed its name to Makkal Osai in 2005. It has a daily circulation of 52,000 copies and 95,000 on weekends.

It employs 100 people.)

Penang Follows Spore's Road to Secession

Abdullah Badawi's foreign policy is undoubtedly Pro-Singapore. Today Penang draws many parallels to Temasek leaving Semenanjung Tanah Melayu. For example Lim Guan Eng's sensational condemnation of the NEP. Then, Lee Kah Choon quits Gerakan without blinking an eye to take up high powered positions as Penang Development Corporation (PDC) Director and InvestPenang Executive Committee Chairman. He didn't have the time to entertain Abdullah Badawi's instructions. He blew our weak PM off.

On another note, Mahathirism received a comment as follows:-

Guan Eng's modus operandi in Penang is eaxactly like Lee Kuan Yew's strategy to win Malay support prior to the separation of Malaya. U could view this in a special documentary about Spore's road to independence- aired on ASTRO.

Bravo Pak Lah. U will always have a place in Spore!

  5. Wonder if i can get my tax application approved in my favors, looking at the sudden, bigger and so..so obvious 'flip-flop' decisions making by the govt?

While not indulging myself further on the subject of Makkal Osai; i found it to be so amusing to have such phenomena (the flip-flops) to happen, lately.

If this is what it (the govt) takes to win back the voters, by facing ones back against the wall of laws, then im afraid, we are all doomed for even bigger and psychopathic problem, later.

    Wakmasnoor,

    Laws yang mana?

Mula-mula sekali, suratkhabar ini diharamkan mostly because the ruling party was discontented with it's slant/approach. Kalau tak, kenapa sebelum PRU tak diharamkan lagi?

So once you are discontented with it, you can korek and use la any law to justify an alleged infraction.

Kalau gitu, banyak lagi suratkhabar yang bersalah. Do remember that Utusan Malaysia have also published sometimes racially inflaming things. Kalau mahu nitpick, sure, Utusan's license also can be revoked.

So let's be fair la to everyone, let's be telus dengan sebab-munasabab langkah yang diambil tuh.

    Mukhriz Mahathir To Lead Malaysia

Malaysia is in crisis. Mukhriz Mahathir is the chosen leader to restore Malaysia's Vision 2020. Mukhriz is known as an approachable leader, level headed politician with goals to reform UMNO and the Malaysian system.. However, Mukhriz's efforts of reform are based on in depth study, progressive improvements and effective follow through. Unlike our weak PM who concocts so- called reforms over night that serves to put Malaysia at a stand still. Turning Malaysia into a either a Corridor or a Commission. It's no surprise that the Rakyat have no confidence in Pak Lah.

Here's a chance to meet with our PM in waiting :-
