Samy Vellu Calls For Release of 5 Hindraf Leaders

MIC president S. Samy Vellu today asked the government to release the five Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) leaders under detention.

He said two of them should be freed sooner because one was ill and the other was now an elected representative.

Samy Vellu said R. Kenghadaran, 40, “is very sick” and M. Manoharan, 46, is now a Selangor State assemblymen, having won the Kota Alam Shah seat on a DAP ticket in the recent elections.

He also also said that V. Ganabatirau, 34, and K. Vasantha Kumar, 34, had not been very much involved in the massive rally organised by the unregistered Hindraf in Kuala Lumpur on Nov 25 last year, which was a reason for the five to be detained under the Internal Security Act (ISA).

The fifth Hindraf leader under detention is P. Uthayakumar.

The MIC president said this at a news conference after opening a workshop on “Rebranding the MIC” attended by the party’s 150 divisional leaders, here.

He said Ganabatirau, and Vasantha Kumar were “not very much involved (in the rally), so the government has to make a decision.”

In case, you are doubting his motive for asking the government to release the Hindraf 5,
Samy Vellu said he was doing so not for publicity or a move to win back Indian support for the party.

(MIC is the largest Indian-based political party in the country.)

This is done in fairness, sympathy and, also, we feel that we as Indians have to do something about it. It is not a publicity stunt,” Samy Vellu said.

(Source: NST online. The rest of the story here.)

I'd like to record my support for Samy Vellu's call although if I were Samy Vellu I would have pressed for their release earlier. Much, much earlier.
In fact, I would have protested their detention under the ISA. If the government was so sure that the 5 Hindraf leaders had breached any law of the land, then the 5 should have been subjected to the processes of law.
Detention under the ISA is not a due process of law. It is unjust.

So, Uncle Samy -- do more than just call for their release. Make sure they are released. Press, press, press....

  2. It's the right time to ask for anything under the sun because chances are Pok Loh is gonna give it to you. He's got more things to give you than Santa Claus. As a matter of he's in the giving mood it might as well be christmas.

Too late Samy. You could hv done so much previously, yet, not only did you not lift a finger, but you condemn those who were involved in the rally. And suddenly now you are asking for their relief??? I don't think it shows that you are compassionate or sympathetic, more like you are swaying from one decision to another. Sad....really sad!!

Must the Indians continue to have their voices heard through MIC? Why must each race fight for representation to have their race protected? This kind of politics is sick and must be voted out. Leaders must represent all races, they might be Malays or any other races but they represent everyone be it Orang Asli, Sabahans or Indians. In a near by country they have Indian as Deputy PM, Finance Minister and Minister of Law. Looks like we have some more years to go before we are more mature, It should by 13GE.

  8. A little too much, too little, too late! Who is Ratpeltwig kidding?

The Indian community does not need him to act or speak on their behalf any more.

He's always said he will go when the people tell him to. They have cast their votes at the GE.

What more can they do they tell him to f... off forever? Has this man not a shred of shame, self respect or dignity? This man who refused to make public the Toll Agreements even when his boss Rip Van Winkle told him to?

    Any ideas, Nuraina? Please help!!

  9. It is indeed a good time to call for the release of the Hindraf guys. Pak Lah is a nice guy. He will release the Hindraf 5 soon. It is as good a time as any for anyone to call for their release and then claim credit for their release. All's well that ends well. Uncle Sammy will be told beforehand and then be the first at the gates to hug them as they come out blinking in the sunlight. There will be tears and blubberings. I too will shed tears as I watch TV 1, 2 and 3. It will be so touching.

Cannot even get one exco seat in Pahang..want to get Five released?

    Samy..Samy..you must be bloody joking.

But in the event..any one of the five is released..this stick skinned bugger will claim credit. Typical Samy style.

If AAB release..it is becos AAB wants to score points with the rakyat..not save Samy. Privately AAB thinks this semi bald bugger should have gone long ago and volunteered to go before the elections, and BN would not have suffered so much. The indian swing was too much due to the abhorrence for Samy.

  12. I hope someone will tell this Samy Vedoo that the position he sees the Hindraf 5 in today that he thinks deserves and warrants his intercedeing on their behalf was the same the day they were taken in illegally by way of an abuse of power. Also it was through his insistence obviously the 5 would have been taken in in the first place.

Today the continued incarceration of the Hindraf 5 remains the only beacon of whatever power Badawi possesses as Prime minister that he can continue to exercise without being challenged within UMNO.

But the problem with Badawi is that he is deaf and blind. And he is such an idiot that he cannot process data and information in a way to see clarity in anything.

After all Hindraf only managed to get a response from him after the 25th November rally, water canons and tear gas and what Badawi conveniently interpreted to be a blatant lie. Memorandums and letters fall by the way side never to reach him. Maybe it is just beyond his understanding or maybe he was so asleep that only the rally, water canons and tear gas finally woke him up from his slumber.

I am beinging to think that since the 4th floor boys finally showed him that they were indeed idiots after all, who it is that he now seeks counsel? His wife maybe? In which case maybe we should be addressing pleadings to Jeanne then!

Too little, too late. Samy is a big actor and stuntman.

If the Hindraf 5 are not released in the near future, we can expect a massive signature campaign and street protests again, against ISA detentions and the MIC. Samy knows that. The 90,000-odd Police cannot take on the entire 2.5 million Indian community, which is more than the population of Sarawak, and win. Will the police protect themselves and their families or take on the Indian community? Never in the history of the world, have a police or army taken on an entire people and won. The Chinese army and police will soon discover that in Tibet.

Samy Vellu is the villain who put them (the Hindraf 5) inside in the first place. Badawi is just his errand boy.

When Badawi refused to meet with Hindraf, they took to the streets. Why didn’t he meet in the first place? Is he God or busy being busy? After they took to the streets, he said he had BIG EARS (and maybe small brains filled with the opium of religion) and was willing to meet with them or anybody else.

The racists in Umno responded: "Why meet with them! Huh! Huh! These are small buggers! Of no consequence! We are too big for these buggers!" Probably, their sentiments echoed their now being Melayu Baru, Melayu Glocal, Towering Melayu etc etc

Many Umno racists, including Toyo the son of a Javanese illegal, even responded: "If the Indians are not happy in Malaysia, they can go back to India (the third largest economy in the world in PPP terms GNP US$ 4 trillion CIA World FactBook) and starve. Then they will know which is better? Malaysia (US$ 138 billion economy GNP, which is only slightly bigger than tiny Singapore’s, thanks to Umnoputraism) or India?" These racists must be like the proverbial "katak di bawah tempurung."

Often, people don’t want to hear the truth. It’s too disorienting. It would upset their pet theories and hang-ups. They are afraid to look at themselves in the mirror. They are afraid they would be stricken with a guilty conscience. They rather live in their dream world detached from all reality as long as possible.

Badawi told them to go and see his “boss” Samy Vellu, the "Prime Minister" of Tamil Malaysia. If Gordon Brown can meet with Hindraf leaders, why can’t Badawi the loser? “Badawi is nothing more than a pompous ass seat-warmer filled with feelings of self-importance hyped up by the government media and misled by that political clown and Umno/BN crumbs-taker and great betrayer of the Indian community, Samy Vellu,” was the response of Hindraf supporters in colourful Tamil.

The next day, all five Hindraf leaders were locked up under the ISA as if that would solve the problems.

    The rest is history.

Samy Vellu is an established hypocrite and shameless apple polisher who got his just deserts in the last elections. He is no longer relevant. Please do not report any news about him.

110 MIC members join PAS supporters club

TAIPING: The Kampung Jebong MIC branch in Simpang here was officially dissolved when all 110 of its members quit the party on Saturday night to become members of “Kelab Penyokong PAS” (PAS Supporters Club) instead, the former branch chairman M. Muninathan said.

Muninathan, accompanied by his former branch committee members, submitted their application forms to Bukit Gantang MP Roslan Shaharom during a function held at a temple in the village.

When accepting their applications to join the club, Roslan said the welfare of the former MIC branch members and members of the Indian community there would be taken care of.

“Don’t assume that without (MIC president Datuk Seri S.) Samy Vellu and the MIC, your welfare will be neglected.

“We will take care of you because any problem affecting the Indian community, will affect members of other communities too,” said Roslan.

Roslan said he was indebted to the Indian community here as more than 95% of Indian voters within the Bukit Gantang parliamentary constituency had voted for him in the recent polls.

With Mohd Osman Mohd Jailu, the Changkat Jering assemblyman, and Tai Sing Ng (Kuala Sepetang) being appointed exco members, there were two representatives from the Bukit Gantang parliamentary constituency in the state government.

“The appointment of Tai and Mohd Osman means there will be extra allocation for Bukit Gantang residents,” he said.

"Press, press, press..you may say. Samy will say "press release, press release, press release saja". He is irrevelant and he knows it but is still in denial. He needs further humiliation for the good of his own mental health. I am sure that Tamil Malaysians will be glad to help out if he dares to show his face in Klang or Sg Siput again.
