Let Bygones Be Bygones --

...so MIC president Samy Vellu and his old-time rival S Subramaniam have decided to chart a new beginning. Forgive and forget for the sake of solidarity of the community.
It took an excruciating hard knock on the party -- an unprecedented defeat in the just-concluded general election, for this to happen.
The party won only three of the nine parliamentary seats it contested.
Samy, his deputy Palanivel, vice-presidents S Sothinathan, S Veerasingam, Youth chief S.A Vigneswaran and wanita head Komala Krishnamoorthy were were swept by the political tsunami of March 8.
The survivors were MIC sec-gen S Subramaniam, information chief M Saravan and CWC member S.K Devamany.

Much soul searching, I'm sure.

And for many MIC members -- indeed a hope for a new beginning.

Here's the Bernama story.

No DAP CEC mandate for PAS Menteri Besar in Perak

The decision to appoint a PAS Assemblyman Mohamad Nizar Jamaludin as Perak Mentri Besar has caused shock and consternation to DAP leaders, members and supporters.

The DAP Central Executive Committee, at its emergency meeting in Penang on Sunday, 9th March 2008, had given approval for the formation of a Perak coalition government comprising 18 DAP Assembly members, seven PKR Assemblymen and six PAS Assemblymen.

DAP is prepared to accept DAP chairman and Assemblyman for Sitiawan Ngeh Koo Ham or PKR Behrang Assemblyman Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi as Perak Mentri Besar.

As the appointment of PAS Assemblyman for Pasir Panjang Mohamad Nizar Jamaludin as Perak Mentri Besar representing the third and smallest political party in the proposed coalition has not received the mandate of the CEC, DAP Perak Assemblymen will stay away from the swearing-in ceremony for Perak Mentri Besar scheduled tomorrow.

"And for many MIC members -- indeed a hope for a new beginning" ....What hope indeed for a new beginning if Mr Samy continues to overstay as the shamed and shameless MIC head.He just doesn't get it. He is the main reason for MIC's rout at the polls! By refusing to go, he is nailing shut MIC's coffin for sure, Subramaniam or no. Either he is in total denial or he really believes his own spiel. Good luck, Subra!

    Dear YB Lim Kit Siang,
Why the fuss over the choice of the Perak MB?
DAP success in this election was possible with the help of both PKR and PAS.
Also please be grateful and give respect to the Sultan who has indirectly helped the BA.
If you seriously want a better Malaysian Malaysia do not be so picky.Be more accommodating.bbgin2001

The post of MIC president is more powerful than that of a Minister. MIC has a long history, many members, projects left and right and access to tonnes of money . . .

The Indians have been conveniently forgotten by the instant pundits-plagued media, again, as they fawn slavishly over Anwar Ibrahim. Does he really deserve that much attention, especially in the foreign press? Before Sat 8 March 2008, the Government Press was pouring scorn on Anwar Ibrahim.

Just as easily as the Opposition won five states in Peninsular Malaysia, they can lose them again just as easily at the next General Elections if the Indians defect to the BN. Ironically, just one of the five Hindraf leaders under the ISA detention was fielded by the Opposition in the just-concluded General Election while five bloggers were fielded. How can a blogger compromise his or her political neutrality by jumping together with the Opposition on the Hindraf bandwagon? Where is their sense of ethics, civics and morality? No one will listen to or read these bloggers anymore! They have revealed their true colours. All along, they were planning on using their blogs to get into politics. This raises questions over all that they have been preaching previously. Bloggers should never get into politics although politicians can get into blogging.

Already, Samy Vellu has pledged to stay on as MIC president and continue to soldier on. He knows. He knew. Even now, he’s plotting the destruction of the Opposition day and night. He was finally done in by the Malay Civil Service releasing funds reluctantly in drips and drabs for the Indian community while PM after PM either closed one eye or looked the other way.
