She has already come in to say her piece.
And she is doing what they do in countries including the United States that have adopted the Amber Alert -- by having the picture and details of the missing child widely publicised to ensure that she or he is safely returned in the shortest possible time.
In Malaysia, there is a group called Citizens for Nurin Alert, advocating this system.
As Amber Alert was started in memory of 9 year-old Amber Hagerman who was abducted and brutally murdered in Texas in 1996, it is hoped that 8 year-old Nurin Jazlin's death will not be in vain. Nurin Alert is being advocated in her memory and to save other children, like 5 year-old Sharlinie Mohd Nashar or Nini who has been missing since Wednesday.
In the absence of such an alert system, Shahrizat is certainly trying her best to "alert" the nation.
Ok..the police are hunting down the abductior/abductors so, on her part, Shahrizat is making an urgent appeal to the media to highlight Nini's disappearance.
To flash her picture every hour or half-hour "so that everyone will know and remember her face.
Shahrizat also said she had asked Information Minister Zainuddin Maidin to publicise Nini's disappearance.
(Reminding and warning the abductors is also part of how enforcement agencies manage Amber Alert.)
Shahrizat was with Inspector-General of Police Musa Hassan, Petaling Jaya Selatan MP Donald Lim and Taman Medan Assemblyman Abdul Wahab Ibrahim.

Well, I say Kudos to Kak Ijat!
And that it gets more and more compelling with every new case of a missing child that we have such a thing as Nurin Alert!
K Ena,
ReplyDeleteCan I suggest that you put both photos, of the suspect and Nini at the top of your blog so that its there all the time whenever readers open your blog.
And good luck with the Nurin Alert. Even though Nini's case is something that we dont what it to happen, but it has given the opportunity to see whether the people of this country is willing to take up Nurin's alert.

Ena,
ReplyDeleteit's much too soon and too early in a fresh year to have yet another incident like this..! What was the b....woman thinking when she took Nini away in her black car? Did she think the girl is a stray kitten? Whatever comfort I can draw from this case so far is that at least the alert is out within 48 hours or less and the whole country is geared up, I hope. Now is the time to flash across tv screens for residents to check and make sure Nini is not in any of their immediate neighbour's house! Be kepoh-chi if we have to...how else are we going to find the girl if we just wait...and wait...and wait ..like in Nurin's case? What little I can do I have done...I know that she is not with any of my immediate neighbours here...
Ya Allah, please knock some sense into the abductor's head and buka pintu hati for them to return her to her family before her asthma drains her.
This case will really put to the test the Nurin Alert system, and I pray hard that it will really help to find Nini. God bless Nurin.
Having two daughters around the same age as arwah Nurin and Ninie, I wish I could do more. I suggest the police recruit volunteers to do house to house check. From whatever lead they have, they should organize groups of volunteers to do house to house check in the area where they have received lead. I am sure if they ask the public to help, many will volunteer to turun padang. I am willing to take a whole week leave just to help the parents get their daughter back. I don't think there is enough police officersto do house to house check in a big area. Do whatever it takes to catch this evil person. Lip service is not enough.
ReplyDeletenyonyabudi.
ReplyDeletethank you for your suggestion.
appreciate it.
take care.
azmi,
ReplyDeleteisn't it just so early to have this kind of sad news?
my prayers are for Nini and with her parents and family.
i pray she is safe. I pray they do not touch her.
sometimes I just don;t know what to say. At one end, it is imperative that we ensure our children's safety...at the other, we don;t want to be living in fear all the time, in paranoia.
I'd like to see the police resolve this one.
minahspring,
ReplyDeleteyou;re rigt..there are ways to try and searcha nd rescue Nini.
Let's hope the police think like you!
The Facebook members have been spreading Sharlinie's and the suspect's photos and news of her abduction like wildfire since the news first broke out. I created a Facebook group called "In Memory of Nurin Jazlin (and other victims like her)" about a month ago. Despite the name, we've been using the group for news updates and to spread alert for missing children as well (starting with Sharlinie's disappearance). Seems to be quite effective as a lot of youths may not read the newspapers first thing in the morning rushing for classes, but when they get msgs through an online community group, their awareness level is increased. I've been thinking about renaming the group to "NURIN Alert" as a support for the implementation of the system nationwide, but I need to check with the name legality of it. As a matter of fact, there is also an AMBER Alert group on Facebook, being monitored by American youths. Kak Nuraina, can you tell me what do you think?
ReplyDeleteIf anyone has a Facebook account, here's the URL: In Memory of Nurin Jazlin. Help us spread the alert and updates.
Kak Ena,
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog. You are the first one. Appreciate it.
Since you are closed with Kak Ijat and in the Nurin Alert Action team, I would appreciate it if you could forward my suggestion to Kak Ijat or the police. I know I am not the only one. I bet thousands of people are willing to look for this girl so that there wouldn't be another Nurin or Nini. We need to do something to keep the children safe.
munira,
ReplyDeletethat's really fantastic that you've got the story of nini in facebook. let's hope something fruitful comes out of it.
about nurin alert...as you know i am part of the group "Citizens For Nurin Alert", advocating the implementation of Nurin Alert based on the US initiative Amber Alert. We felt it necessary after Nurin Jazlin's abduction and subsequent death/murder.
We have a committee working wiht Shahizat's ministry to get it going.
we have given a paper on why we think it is necessary to have such an alert system in place. i think our action is vindicated, more and more.
The case of Sharlinie, as an example. What they are doing -- publicising her disappearance with posters and Shahrizat appealing that TV flshes her pictures regularly, and warning the abductors not to harm her.... all part of how Amber Alert works. Kak Ijat ahs been briefed on Nurin Alert.
As for using the name Nurin Alert...well nothing illegal. Nurin Alert is the name that we (actually Rocky came up with it after my posting on the need for a similar system like AMber Alert after Farina mentioned it in my blog) have come up with.
But, I see nothing illegal about it.
But as you know, Nurin's uncle, Jasni is in Citizens for Nurin Alert. Also he has a blog called "In Memory of Nurin Jazlin".
As for Amber Alert, I'm hardly surprised because that is the original US model.
thanks, munira for visiting.
Minahspring,
ReplyDeleteit was my pleasure. About your suggestions, I'll help to take them as far as I can.
Thank you.
Kak Ena, tak tau apa nak cakap. I just want her to be found safe and alive.
