Bloggers are Cowards!

I suppose the hate campaign against bloggers is going to be relentless. It does not matter what is said about bloggers -- inane, unqualified, baseless or stupid statements -- it is going to be said so that people will be getting the same message. Over and over again.

It does not even matter if the people making the statement sound hopelessly idiotic.
Discredit bloggers any which way you can to bring them down -- that is the name of the game.

Bloggers are now cowards because they don't use local addresses.
Huh? Say what?

That's what Muhammad Muhd Taib said. I aint lying. Unless Bernama misquoted him.
Here's the story:

Umno information chief Tan Sri Muhammad Mohammad Taib has described writers of political blogs, whom he says looked brave in criticising government leaders, as cowards.
"Why I say they are coward? Because they are afraid of using (web) addresses in the country but use overseas addresses to slam our country leaders. Is this the character of a man? This is not a man, this is a 'pondan'.
"How dare they say no one can touch them, no one can drag them to court because no laws can be used to take action on them," he told reporters after a meeting of Umno's information chiefs from the divisions nationwide.
Muhammad was commenting on allegations that Umno leaders were afraid to speak up and face bloggers.

He said Umno leaders were not afraid to response to all allegations contained in the blogs but were sure that despite the replies, the bloggers would not take the side of the government.
Umno Youth vice chief Khairy Jamaluddin who attended the function, said he was not afraid to face and have dialogues with political blog writers if they were ready to face him.
"To most of the allegations, I have responded before this and last year. Most of them are recycled and re-written in different styles.
"I'm not afraid... I'd answered all the allegations but were not posted in the blogs. If their minds and attitude are closed, they cannot accept any of our replies," he said.
He said attacks on individuals were not serious and it was up to the victims to sue but more attention should be given to attacks on institutions especially the government and rulers as well as against religions and races because of the sensitivities involved.
Also present at the meeting, held behind closed doors at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur today (Aug 19), was Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said.- Bernama

Oh brother! Whatever will they say next?

Nuraina,
This guy is using the mainstream media where many readers are not internet savvy. These kind of people will believe whatever he said because they dont even know what a blog is. Those who know of course will just laugh at his silly antics or at the most confirm him as a half past six ex menteri besar trying to make a comeback from doom.
I am apalled at what he said. The good news is that KJ is opening up an avenue for a dialogue. This is interesting because should he back off then he can be labelled as the real coward.

my dear,
this former teacher who couldn't read english in an airport in Brisbane suddenly seems to understand the workings on a blog ??
I don't think we here have the capability to provide for bloggers or the means to create one...so it must be educational to this man with "millions in cash in Australia shopping to buy land" ( come to think of it....he buys land in Australia and that is doing the patriotic thing ???Very UMNO isn't it ?) by a little up-start !! Shame on this shameless monkeys !

In 1960s, the Communists were the enemies of the government and the nation.

In 2007, the bloggers have become the new communists of the nation. ISA is now aimed at them.

Ena,
I read Muhammadx2's remarks. I think he is describing someone not just brave (for criticizing the government for incompetence, etc) but also very clever (using overseas server so as to avoid draconian laws).

Pondan? He can talk! He married a woman and had no balls to tell her dad. Porrrah!

I was curious whether MMT deliberately left out the female bloggers and absolve them of cowardice. So I decided to check out Dewan Bahasa's karyanet website for the meaning of pondan.Apparently it works both ways.

Kamus Dewan says:
pondan: laki-laki yg lebih bersifat keperempuanan (perempuan yg lebih bersifat kelelakian), banci, kedi, papak, ponen.

So from the above , looks like you female bloggers are not absolved and exempted. So there !

sorry, the UMNO buggers is gonna run out of expletives for bloggers. oops.oh.no..new one..
bloggers are bag carriers for subversive agents from overseas..in other words, they carry bags of money out of this country... which means shame..shame..shame..shame..shame.
Aint such money carriers be ashame?

I think female pondans don't blog. So they are not cowards. They become head of cybertroopers. One particular person comes to mind.

I don't know whether to laugh or to cry!

The level of talk or argument among Malaysians in particular MPs hasn't risen above the level of (new)village/kampung prattle and name-calling!

Monyet! Goblok! Pondan!

These were the words I heard in my childhood (and that was way before Merdeka)when adults chided naughty children or affectionately teased them!

These were the words we as children used when we wanted to hit back at those who taunted us!

These were the words you used when you had a mental block and couldn't think of anything better!

If Malaysians, especially Malay MPs think they are so "suci" and "murni", and have progressed so much in the last 50 years why are they still so infantile/childish/crude/vulgar in their use of language! Especially those with a First Class Honours in Malay Studies or its equivalent! Or those who were educated in the best international schools and universities!

Their argument will be that they want to use the language of the masses i.e. language that the UMNO or MCA or MIC grassroots understand and can identify with.

BUT isn't it the duty of MPs and the country's leaders to refine not only themselves but the people they are leading -refinement in every aspect of their conduct and behaviour. Aren't they supposed to be our role models - gemilang, cemerlang, terbilang!

It's high time they use appropriate language and not degrade their position, their family, their political party, their etnic group and their country further!

If you want to "WALK THE TALK" make sure you talk properly!

This pre-internet-age monkey is still around ? When he was the MB ,he often talked about the "information super-highway " and all IT related issues.
Of course we all knew he doesn't have the knowledge of what he was talking about. It all came from his speech-writers.

15 years hence---he obviously hasn't learnt anything.
He's only doing what he's only good for ! Shooting his mouth and trying to stuff a bigger pair of shoes into his already big mouth.
He talks as if the bloggers are causing a national disaster !! #$@ He forgot about the shame and embarassement he has brought to Malaysia when like an idiot, he was caught with his hand in the cookie jar ---and in a foreign land too.

I hope and pray more of our leaders get caught the same way--I dun care in which country he or SHE gets caught !!!!

err...when Tony Pua challenged him to a debate on the civil service, and even provided a seat for him in the debate/forum, he didn't turn up wor...same goes for a forum some years back where Adlan Benan Omar and Dr Dzulkifli accepted to be the panelists when it was made known that KJ would be one of the panelists. but then he didn't turn up, but instead sent somebody else instead.

Hahaha It's so funny . First politician does not know how these internet entities operate and they have no clue how to prosecute all bloggers as there is no provision to do so ...Namewee case should it go on should prove very educative to them.

First they can't sue all bloggers as most of our blogging engines are situated overseas which the local cyber laws can't bring to justice...can't shut it down by other means...Youtube video can't be blocked or youtube companies can;t be prosecuted as it was not based here and wasn't based in a physical office .

So what can these dimwit politicans do..they roared in a distance like a toothless tiger and in stupidity and helplessness as they see freedom of expression goes ahead.

He is just baiting us to host our blog at home ground so that he can find a way to prosecute us blogger.

Ena, lets deal with them if they decide to take us on. It must be a public forum, eye-ball to eye-ball. I await this with bated breath.

As for the guy who chose not to understand English, he is exhibiting symptoms of suicidal tendencies. Raja Petra will pulverize him, for sure, if he dares debate RPK at Putra World Trade Centre.
