September 16 will be a public holiday from next year.
That's Malaysia Day.
This was announced by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
Read Azmi Anshar's commentary -- "A New Love Story That Has Taken 46 Years to Bloom" in the NST.
What I'd like to know now is whether our brethren in Sabah and Sarawak will now lift those little visit/work restrictions for their saudara-saudara from Semenanjung.
Kalau tidak, mana boleh ......

Didn't anyone tell our Pm there are alrteady too many public holidays in Malaysia. It is good news for all employees but what about employers. Ask any MNC's CEO and they can tell you the number of public holidays in Malaysia is simply ridiculous.
To the PM - This one BIG mistake. This will do a lot of harm to our economy.
Anwar Ibrahim's sept 16 is a proven catalyst for change in the political system. A catalytic converter that reduces mind-set stagnation and instability. We should congratulate him for this announcement.
After 31st Aug celebration then comes along 16th Sept.
No wonder the Orang tua say holidays are more important than working.
More holidays =more spending= more borrowing.
Of course this equation does not apply to well to do guys.
This is too much. Two public holidays in two weeks? It's not going to help increase productivity and do good things to our economy. Come on Mr Prime Minister. We are having too many public holidays as it is now! And dear NURAINA SAMAD, I hope to get in touch with your cousin MARIANA KAMARUDDIN from Singapaore. Please help me get in touch with her.
