Now, will all you "goblok" (stupid in Javanese) bloggers please stand up, and, er, be counted.
So we now have, according to Zam, goblok bloggers and bloggers. Goblok bloggers are political bloggers and they are stupid. And if I read Zam correctly, he did not care to differentiate between political bloggers and those who tell lies.
Conveniently, he has tarred them with the same brush.
Really, I wanted to laugh. Then, for the love of my country, I wanted to cry.
But I think I'll go with MarinaM who thinks it is better to laugh.
Zam's very intelligent assessment was just too much that it threatened to tickle me, but, wait, I thought I was going to just cry. For the love of my country.
But , as Marina reminded me, why cry because of idiots like them. Ah, that made perfect sense.
"I think laughing is better," Marina said in her SMS. Okay, I am now laughing.
I feel so much better.
Here, folks. Here's what Zam said:
KUALA LUMPUR: Information Minister Datuk Seri Zainuddin Maidin says not all bloggers are stupid as some of them are informative, knowledgeable and disseminate positive views on current issues.
The ones that were mostly goblok (stupid, in Indonesian) were political bloggers who float rumours and create hatred among the people, he said yesterday.
He said political bloggers “blatantly abused the freedom of the Internet.” “Readers of these blogs read them to pass time and for fun, akin to reading a ghost story.
The people must be able to distinguish between goblok bloggers and bloggers,” he added. – Bernama
Are they getting better at sounding asinine?
For the love of our country, it may no longer be funny.

Salam Kak Ena
If some bloggers are gobloks, some of the politicians are what then? HO about brengset? Bisa nggak? :)
salam kak ena,
if i were to cry, its because i have him as my minister.
oh please,please...(sob...sob)
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it the Minister of Information who wants to establish a set of guidelines for the use of language on TV and other media where, among other things, "bahasa rojak" (language mixing/codeswitching) should not be used?
Why is he then using an Indonesian word "goblok" when there are many Malay words which express the same notion i.e. "stupid", in this case the stupid bloggers that he's so angry with.
ZAM now adds further confusion by suggesting there are "goblok bloggers" and "professional bloggers" (ungoblok?). The goblok ones create stories like the ghost stories that no one actually believes. So are bloggers ghosts and phantoms too like "phantom voters" (a term peculiar to Malaysia that has arisen out of the local political scene)?
Being partial to words and their meanings I wonder why ZAM didn't pick a Malay word like " bodoh, tolol, dungu, bangang, bebal, tongong" to describe bloggers. Wouldn't it be easier for Malays and Malaysians to understand words which are commonly used in our community. These words have developed their own extended meanings and connotations in their socio-cultural environment. To me "bangang" is more powerful and hardhitting than "goblok".
Why involve the Indonesians and their word "goblok" which is peculiar to their language and socio-cultural milieu? "goblok characters" in Indonesian movies are usually silly, harmless, nondescript roles who provide comic relief - much like the court jester in Shakespearean plays.
Besides, isn't it also a pledge among ZAM and his colleagues to uphold the "kemurnian" and "keaslian" of the Malay language and not allow any other language(s) to pollute it?
I cannot understand ZAM from the perspective of logic and sociolinguistics. But I quite understand the political angle!
I wonder what the Indonesian bloggers think of this?
That one got Rocky really mad. He's a mean fella now. I wouldn't want to mess with him when he's mad.
Zam and his UMNO 'cyber troopers' must now be feeling the heat.
All I can is: If you cant stand the heat, get the hell out of the kitchen.
ancient mariner,
the cybertroopers are the liars, the phony bloggers, the paid monkeys in cyberspace, the mercenaries.
they are surely the ones Zam meant.
We will list down the names of the cybertroopers.
Now I'd like Zam to name who the gobloks are : Have the guts to name them.,
Is it RPK, AKJ, Jeff ooi, Rocky, Ron, Zahrin, Shar, Susan Loone, Sheih, Marina Mahathir, Shahrir Samad, Anwar Ibrahim, Big Dog, Nat Tan, Eli WOng, Politikus, A Voice, Zorro or me?
And list down the lies that have been told and spread.
Do it, man!
zam ke kak aina? hmmm.......
Nuraina,
You sounded pissed... , "A person whose intellectual development proceeds normally up to about the eighth year of age and is then arrested so that there is little or no further development."...this is what Pakcik Google definition of the word moron which aptly described this Zam guy...geeeezzzz and he is one of our minister
Nuraina,
What lah you, sis. I'm not a goblok blogger coz I was not on the original list.
I think I am under the 'etc' category.
So ZM will have to re-categorize bloggers like me. How about Nu-Goblok? Or N.K.O.T.Blog?
And ZM, 'bengap' is yours for keeps.

Hi Aunty Nuraina,
Hmmm...The more I read the papers, the more confused I am lor...Now I am officially very confused lor...
The gomen is obviously out to fry and keep quiet bloggers who write the very real truth about their idiosyncrasies, stupidities and unethical-ness, to name a few, right?
But seriously, how many are such bloggers? Why threaten the whole of bloggerhood/blogosphere and label us as goblok-bloggers and just bloggers because of a few people who have enough info (like RPK) to supposedly bring the gomen down? Why paint everyone with one brush?
If one MT can bring the entire gomen down, doesn't it just show the gomen is not strong to begin with?
Anyway, I believe most bloggers in the country are young people/teenagers (like me!) who blog about how long they've been dating their boyfriend/girlfriend, how long they spend shopping, how long they can watch football, and/or how much they hate/like school...
I don't think hormonally-charged gushing (yeah, it's nothing more than that!) can harm anyone...
So yeah, tell me again how we're a threat? Because I am really, really, really confused now...

So, who is he calling "stupid"?
wise men speak because they have something to say, idiots because they have to say something.

OF COURSE,HIMSELF!! THANKS J.T.
We are talking about The Zam, yes?
I like him and I think he's an amusing bloke. He is also funny, although not deliberately. He does have the propensity to say some pretty inane and random stuff, so I sometimes use a pair of socks to muffle my laughter.
Other times, I just use a donut.
Ena,

Terima kasih.
Dear Ms. Nuraina,
I can safely say that I'm no longer taken aback by Zam's name calling. And I'm no longer shocked by his inane statements. Like many others, I guess I'm now immune to his antics.
Funny, isn't it, that people like Zam and MMT expect us to take them seriously when they don't seem to have respect for themselves. Sheesh, if this whole thing wasn't so sad, it'd be laughable indeed.
